Ottobock is focusing on innovative cutting-edge technologies that enable people with mobility impairments to achieve far better and previously unimagined new mobility.
The investments in the two Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) spin-offs founded by bionics pioneer Hugh Herr, underscore Ottobock's clear commitment to future-oriented product development and send a further signal for sustainable investment in modern medical technology.
Expertise
In addition to a financial investment in the millions, Ottobock is also investing its expertise in the two start-ups. As an investor and strategic partner, Ottobock will also take a seat on the board of both companies.

Intuitive control
MuscleMetrix offers a neuroprosthetic interface designed to control the movement of prosthetic limbs using magnetic beads positioned in the residual limb and external sensors. The new implant technology is designed to enable people using bionic prostheses to move as naturally and intuitively as possible.
Digital solution for sockets and liners
BionicSkins offers a digital fitting process for prosthetic sockets and liners. The innovative technology uses CT imaging, physics-based computation, AI, and 3D printing to guide clinicians in their mission to provide highly functional and comfortable prostheses – saving time and reducing frustration for patients and clinicians alike.
