Sizewise's First Intuitive Hospital Bed – The Navigator

Sizewise officials unveil the industry's first intuitive hospital bed that will not only change the form but the function of patient care and patient healing. 

The basic industry's hospital bed has not seen giant strides forward in design and technology for many years, and with the launch of the Navigator a new standard of care enters the market. 

Brad and Brian Frickey, chief manufacturing officers at Sizewise, say the development of a breakthrough bed unlike any other on the market has been a rewarding process. "We manufacture this bed in the U.S. and our factories have taken a great deal of pride in delivering the Navigator nationwide," they agree.

From a business perspective, hospitals are facing economic challenges as much as any industry. Trever Frickey, chief operating officer at Sizewise, states, "It was important to build a bed that would fit into the long-term equipment buying strategy of acute care hospitals today while still providing them with technology and functions that will take them into the future of patient care."

More About the Navigator
The Navigator has a market-leading capacity at 600 lb safe working load. It is also the industry's lowest acute care bed, with an 11" low deck for safe patient ambulation and fall prevention. The bed also elevates to a 33" high deck height for a safe working height of care providers.

The Navigator comes standard with a SW Adapt mattress, a multi-density surface comprised of three unique pressure redistribution foam layers and an extendable foot section. Navigator's open architecture design allows for a variety of support surface options to be used on the frame.

The Navigator has built-in self-diagnostic technology and SW Safe features that assist in addressing readmission rates, reducing staff injuries, increasing the safety and satisfaction of patients and facility staff and importantly lining up to address specific CMS-outlined Adverse Events. The integrated motion bed movement alarm has multiple tones or can be custom recorded by a family member or in the language of the patient.

The Beacon Safety Lighting is uniquely positioned at the side of the foot-end for a quick-glance status check as a nurse walks by the room. An industry-leading four points of control make the bed functions easily accessible to the patient and care provider. If needed, the Navigator has an optional Escort power drive system to enable ease of bed movement and transfer.

Unique to the Navigator, clinicians are able to track historic data including weight, BMI, Braden Scale, head and side rail up/down data, visual wound-staging photos and more.
