Franklin, Tennessee - The Supermini type 105 tool system from Horn performs demanding tasks involving bore diameters between 0.2mm (0.008") and 6mm (0.236"), with more than 1,000 versions of carbide inserts that fit one toolholder.
The new type 105 carbide inserts, for boring hard materials up to 66HRC, are available to work in bore diameters of 4mm (0.157") to 5mm (0.197"), and bore depths to 10mm (0.394"),15mm (0.591") and 20mm (0.787"). The boring inserts are available in a left-hand and right-hand design. The heat resistant coating is applied to the carbide substrate under tightly controlled conditions to ensure proper adherence to the precision ground micro-geometry of the cutting edge. As a result, this expertly engineered combination of carbide substrate, coating and cutting geometry offers a highly cost-effective alternative to the CBN cutting materials that were required before now.
