What’s your Ukraine strategy?

What you do for Ukraine matters to all of us!

It’s difficult writing a monthly column on a timely topic knowing that circumstances may have changed by the time you read this article.

However, the events in Ukraine require us to pay attention to this brutal violence against a democratic nation. The people of Ukraine are (as of the time of this writing) free citizens who deserve a better outcome than what’s currently being imposed upon them.

While we know most of TMD’s readers don’t have any direct business in Ukraine, some of you do have business with Russia. If history has taught us anything, such aggression has and will have devastating lasting effects at a global level. It’s too early to know what’s next, but what’s clear is each of us can and should aim to make a difference.

There are ways all of us can support the people of Ukraine, including:

1. Asking our government and oil companies to stop buying Russian oil.

It’s blood money. While we realize it may result in a temporary increase in the price of gas, it seems like a worthwhile war tax to pay to cut off funding for the murderer named Vladimir Putin.

2. Hire a Ukrainian.

As they get set up in Europe, Ukrainians will need to have jobs to support themselves and their family.

Also, if the war has stopped (let’s hope it’ll be soon), think about hiring a remote Ukrainian software engineer. There are many talented programmers in Ukraine, who may need work.

3. Donate to a Ukrainian charity.
Some examples are listed in the sidebar but there are many donation options – we also have more listed on our website at https://www.medworldadvisors.com.

4. Don’t hurt a Russian.
Yes, you heard that right. Many Russians aren’t free to speak and are at risk every day, they live in a country held by a dictator. For the Russians who live in the United States, they are on the side of peace as much as we are. With that stated, feel free to hurt the bank account of a Russian oligarch – should you come across one.

5. If you have/had a BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) strategy, take the R out of it.
Make it a BIC strategy. Let’s isolate Russia until they learn how to be better world citizens. Think about how you can support Ukraine in your own way and in a manner that’s meaningful to you. You can make a difference. We are all in this together. We stand with Ukraine.
