While more than 12 million people are employed in manufacturing in the United States, many manufacturers are just starting to explore and fully understand the production benefits of additive manufacturing (AM). To help bolster an understanding of additive manufacturing, AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology and Gardner Business Media, in cooperation with Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH, will be producing Formnext Chicago, April 8-10, 2025, at McCormick Place.

“Announced in 2021, this event creates more opportunities for jobs shops, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), startups, and service providers. Formnext Chicago will expose attendees to different parts of the supply chain and different parts of the innovation cycle so they can learn how to apply AM technology within their existing business to create new opportunities,” says Douglas K. Woods, president, AMT.

This September, the IMTS 2024 Additive Manufacturing Sector accelerated by Formnext featured a mix of exhibitors and new start-ups displaying breakthrough AM solutions along with educational presentations on the Formnext Stage. These exhibits and events were a taste of what attendees can expect to see at the April 2025 event.

One of the unique opportunities of AM is the ability to integrate multiple materials into a singular part that could not otherwise be done with subtractive manufacturing. Exhibits at Formnext Chicago will highlight the entire AM value chain which includes materials, design, software, production, post-production, service providers, metrology, investment bankers, and venture capitalists.

“Attendees will see the array of technologies that build out the entire complex of AM, see how those technologies are used together to solve problems, and to decide how they could leverage this to make a difference in their business,” Woods concludes.
