Ultra compact medical machining

OL-1 Office Lathes and OM-1 Office Mills are both well-suited for small, precision medical and dental parts. Their ultra compact sizes fit through standard 36-in. doorways and allow users to move them from one location to another with a pallet jack or equipment dolly. Each machine runs on single-phase power (240 V).

OL1 Office Lathes and OM1 Office Mills are both wellsuited for small, precision medical and dental parts. Their ultra compact sizes fit through standard 36in. doorways and allow users to move them from one location to another with a pallet jack or equipment dolly. Each machine runs on singlephase power (240 V).

The Office Lathe features a 5hp (peak), 6,000 rpm spindle, and its threaded 5C collet accepts several optional chucks. Highspeed cross slides deliver X,Y travels of 12x8 in. and accommodate a variety of gangstyle tools (a standard tool pack is included). The cross slide generates fast chipto chip times and short cycle times, while offering quick setups and ample clearance.

Brushless servos on all axes yield cutting feeds up to 500 ipm and rapids up to 757 ipm. Haass control eases machine operation and setup. On the Office Mill, 8x8x8in. X,Y,Z axes and a 20x10in. Tslot table make for an ample work envelope. Its spindle is a standard 50,000rpm brushless micromotor, and its head accepts a variety of other highspeed electric spindles.

With brushless servos on all axes, the mill cuts at feeds up to 500 ipm and rapids at 757 ipm for short cycle times. It also features Haas control.

Standard equipment on the mill includes a floppydisk drive, 1 Mbyte of program memory, a coolant system, highspeedmachining software with full lookahead, and a fourthaxis drive. Options are userdefinable macros, 16 Mbyte of program memory, a hard drive with ethernet interface, a probing system, and fiveaxis capability.

For shops requiring a larger work envelope but without an increase in machine size Haas offers the OM2. Its footprint, micromotor spindle, and standard features are the same, but it provides X,Y,Z travels measuring 12x10x12 in.
