Plans for IMTS 2012 Fully in the works

IMTS – The International Manufacturing Technology Show, September 10-15, 2012, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL, carries the theme Be There – a call to action for the more than 82,000 industrial decision makers from more than 106 countries who will attend IMTS to stay ahead of the competition.

To help guide visitors around the more than 1,000 exhibits, and find their areas of interest quickly and easily, IMTS breaks out into 10 pavilions.

Other highlights for IMTS 2012 are the Emerging Technology Center (ETC), the IMTS 2012 Conference, the Advanced Manufacturing Center, the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Student Summit, and the co-located Midwest Clean Tech 2012 Conference.

In addition, there will be two other features in the ETC: Additive Technology and MTConnect. IMTS.com

Closing the Skills Gap

Today's jobs situation seems to be a tail of two markets. On one hand, nationwide unemployment is hovering near record highs at more than 9%. On the other hand, advanced CNC manufacturers are having a hard time finding the skilled help they need to meet customer demands in the face of increased part complexity, reduced lot sizes, and shorter lead times.

Looking to help close this skills gap, by offering free or reduced cost training on its software, is PartMaker Inc. division of Delcam Plc. Free classroom training for one student is available to any new or existing customer ordering more than $10,000 worth of software. For customers just interested in training, a 20% discount off standard training rates is available. To take advantage of this offer, customers need only place their order in 2011, but can actually take the training in 2012. partmaker.com
