Next-generation waterjet technology

Now categorized as JetMachining Centers, the next-generation MAXIEM machines offer productivity enhancing features. The JetMachining Center product line offers easy-to-use, reliable, and efficient abrasive waterjet machines designed and built in the U.S. These versions feature updated linear drive systems, a Z-axis core with optional multi-axis cutting heads, and low ceiling height. Additional machine enhancements include faster cutting speeds, streamlined abrasive hopper designs, and self-leveling base legs.

MAXIEM machines are equipped with OMAX’s Intelli-TRAX linear drive system that uses brushless servo motors, integrated servo drives, and high precision linear encoders to provide constant and continuous feedback on the actual cutting head position. In addition to increased part-cutting accuracy, the advanced drive system delivers faster and smoother motion.

OMAX offers the JetMachining Centers’ Z-axis core equipped with a precision MAXJET 5 nozzle. This revamped universal Z-axis design, with an updated modular head interface, features 12" of controlled height travel. This allows users to switch from a simple fixed cutting head to the versatile A-Jet multi-axis cutting head in minutes.

MAXIEM machines feature a 50,000psi pump that includes variable frequency drive (VFD) technology for precise cutting pressure control. The pumps deliver more cutting power-per-kilowatt than intensifier-type pumps and are available in 20hp, 30hp, and 40hp versions.

All next-generation MAXIEM machines have a rigid tank design with leveling feet that maintain accuracy while simplifying installation. Specific models feature bigger cutting areas for processing standard size sheets of material.

Range of available vises

The Cobra 5-axis dovetail vise provides up to 4,000 lb of precision clamping force without distorting workpieces. The Cobra’s 1/2" movable jaw stroke allows precise raw stock clamping with less material prep for fast positioning in the vise jaws. It is 2" wide and handles part widths from 1.375" to 1.800".

The Chameleon vise is designed for tool room, knee mill applications, and smaller CNC machining tables. With up to 5,000 lb of precision clamping force, the Chameleon gives machinists more clamping options than previous standard vises. The vise is 3.5" wide with a 4" jaw opening and features predrilled sine holes for use with a receiver vise to achieve 30°, 45°, and 60° angle settings.

Designed for mounting to the back of 6" and 8" single-station vises is the Sidewinder SDW35 vise. It is 3.5" wide and has an increased 4" wide jaw opening, with up to 5,000 lb of clamping force, providing vertical workholding for second operation machining in the same setup.

Kurt’s VersatileLock vises feature a one-piece body and stationary jaw design, providing precise 0.0005" part clamping repeatability. Now available in four 8" vise models that have 10" jaw openings, the new models are manual standard, manual reverse, hydraulic standard, and hydraulic reverse.

Several styles of compact bar loaders

CNC Indexing & Feeding Technologies offers several styles of short bar loaders in both pneumatic and servo styles. The pneumatic loader adds unmanned production capability to a lathe. The servo loader also allows unmanned production capability while being able to feed to higher accuracies or used on lathes with sub-spindles.

Available pneumatic models are the V-65E (4ft) and V-65LE (5ft). These models load spindle length bar stock into the lathe spindle and will feed to a turret stop. They are capable of loading bar diameters from 5mm (0.196") up to 66mm (2.598") and can be used for small to large production runs.

All MTA-brand short bar loaders from CNC Indexing include pusher cylinders with linear guides, trouble-free pusher locks, V-channel adjustments, X-axis sliding rail systems, fully functional PLCs with comprehensive data bank software, new bar position sensors, and handheld remote controls.
