Parting Off, Grooving Small Components
X4, a new multi-edged, tangential tool for grooving and parting-off of small components is available in cutting widths from 0.031" to 0.093". X4’s inserts minimize material consumption in parting-off and enable precise grooving and copying of small- and medium-sized complex parts. Performance is enhanced further through X4’s tangential insert bodies that ensure high rigidity, stability, and productivity. To increase flexibility, each X4 insert type can be fastened to any X4 insert seat, allowing for reduction of tooling inventory.

Revamped High Speed Machining
A completely revamped line of CNC machine tools highlights high-speed machining (HSM). The Hurco VMXHSi mills are equipped with direct-drive servos and other components to promote speed, accuracy, and repeatability. The integral spindle has an 18k base speed spindle and is equipped with ABEC-7 ceramic hybrid bearings to manage the thermal issues associated with HSM. The air-over-oil spindle lubrication distributes oil evenly to the bearings and the automatic tool changer with HSK tooling has a chip-to-chip time of 4.5 seconds.

The Hurco HSi machining centers are built to last and to retain accuracy with larger linear rails that are mounted to a machined shoulder for increased rigidity.

The Hurco VMX24HSi and VMX42HSi are the only high speed machining centers equipped with Hurco’s patented motion control system called UltiMotion, which further reduces cycle time by as much as 30%. Since UltiMotion utilizes complex software algorithms for motion planning instead of conventional hardware, machine jerk is substantially reduced, which provides the added benefit of improved surface finish quality.

Miniature DC

A newly released DC servo motor controller, the ESCON 50/5 OEM module, is a mini OEM plug-in module that is a 4-quadrant pulse-width modulated (PWM) servo motor controller. It efficiently controls permanent-magnet brushed DC motors (PMDC motors) and brushless DC servo motors (BLDC motors) containing Hall effect sensors, with power levels up to 250W.

A completely configurable broad range of functions can be set to operate from the onboard analogue and digital inputs. The DC motor speed can be set for open or closed loop with preset current/torque levels, or the motor torque and direction can be set with analogue inputs. The inputs can be scaled and midpoints independently set with the “Easy to use Servo Controllers” PC Graphical User Interface (GUI) allowing fast implementation integrated into difficult motor control applications. Detailed design guides are supplied allowing easy integration onto the main equipment PCB.
