Five-Face Vertical Machining Centers
The design of two all-new Bridgeport 5-Face (4+1) vertical machining centers – the GX 250 5F and GXR 320 5F – is to achieve maximum capacity and performance. Two machine sizes are available and come standard with a sophisticated, yet user-friendly, Fanuc 0i-D control for 4+1 machining – the use of four simultaneous axes plus one axis that is used for positioning only. A step up from 3-axis machining, where just one or two sides of the part are machined per setup, 4+1 or 5-face machining allows the part to be machined on five faces in one single set up. The part remains in one fixture instead of being moved from one fixture or vise to another, drastically reducing setup time while improving accuracy.
Bridgeport 5-Face (4+1) machining centers feature an integrated 5-axis robust rotary table supported by large bearings to allow heavy horizontal and vertical cutting loads with smooth and accurate rotation at all times. Bridgeport incorporates heavy-duty linear guideways and oversized double-nut ballscrews that are pre-tensioned to provide superior accuracy and repeatability. The linear way modules consist of slide members (guide trucks) and linear rails to provide a large load rating, stable accuracy, high rigidity, and low friction.

Automatic Magazine Bar Feeders
Alpha 538 is designed for sliding headstock machines and loads bar stock diameters from 0.20" to 1.5" (5mm to 38mm). Alpha 552 is for fixed headstock machines and bar stock diameters from 0.20" to 1.85" and up to maximum 2.047" diameter with bar preparation (5mm to 52mm).
Both bar feeders use hydrodynamic or hydrostatic oil to safely support bar stock and reduce vibration transference. The LNS Quick-Change round-guiding elements and pusher enable partial changeovers in less than 3 minutes and complete changeovers in less than 8 minutes.
For easy bar loading on sliding headstock machines, Alpha 538 includes a Swiss safety connection featuring a telescopic tube and T-Tube liners; the LNS 3-S direct electronic headstock synchronization system; and a long pusher extension (depending on the machine configuration).

New Generation of Tool Presetters
Hathor Six and Sethy Six tool presetters are tailored specifically to customer requirements for a powerful tool measuring system. The new Hathor Six (floor model) and Sethy Six (bench model) have an increased axis measuring range (600mm / 23.62"); fixed target function in micrometric registration of X- and Z-axis; a single, high definition 15" TTF touchscreen with improved viewing and functionality; and available, as an option, is manual control of the C-axis.
These new units feature Elbo Controlli’s ground granite column and base, a spindle body assembled on spring roller cages, and optical scales. Movement accuracy of the X-axis and Z-axis is guaranteed through use of stable granite supporting surfaces.

Linear Drive, Adjustable Pitch
All Uhing Model RG linear drives now feature a manual pitch control, which permits a 10:1 adjustment of the linear pitch of the drive unit. The pitch control lets users turn the pitch down in 0.01 increments across one hundred discrete settings. For example the RG30 drive has a maximum pitch of 26.0mm (1.02") and may be turned down to 2.6mm (0.10").
