Measure Thousands of Orthopedic Tapers
Air gaging quickly and accurately measures precision tapers and doesn’t require linkages to transfer mechanical motion, so the contacts (jets) can be spaced closely and at virtually any angle.

Gaging the taper of a bore is a basic application that benefits from close jet spacing. All it takes is a single tool with jets at opposite sides of the gage’s diaphragm. The gage registers only the difference in pressure between the two sets of jets, directly indicating the amount of taper.

However, because air gaging is custom-made for the application, there can be just as many air tools as there are part variations. To reduce the number of tools, Mahr Federal engineers designed a master air tool with multiple jetting and a series of spacers, allowing one tool to be used on all the various tapers, regardless of length. The gage can be zeroed on a single master spacer and the operator can measure parts by selecting the appropriate spacer.

PLUS – Universal Gaging Station with Separate Inputs
Along with the air tool, engineers developed a custom touchscreen-based gaging computer for use in completely different manufacturing cells that:

  • Stores all part files
  • Selects the right tool by part number
  • Pulls the proper calibration offsets
  • Documents measurements and print customer reports
  • Stores data for future documentation

High Speed Spindles for Swiss Machines
PCM High Speed Spindles are now available for STAR SR & SV series CNC Swiss-Type Machines, providing increased spindle speeds for micro-machining operations. These spindles provide 3x speed output for whatever is programmed up to a maximum of 15,000rpm.

Available as a direct replacement for OEM p/n 331-5-00, the PCM cross drill/mill spindle is simple to install, requires no retrofitting or modification to the turret, and readily works with the thru-coolant drills, micro-drills, and end mills. The spindle, direct gear-driven from the live tooling motor, provides maximum torque and speed. The sealed design is maintenance free.

Performance Benefits

  • Minimal burrs
  • Improved surface finishes
  • Faster part cycles
  • Greater productivity
  • Higher machining speeds

Miniature Plastic Non-Spill Coupling
The NS1 Series quick disconnect couplings provide a secure, reliable connect and disconnect in a user-friendly, compact footprint. NS1 Series couplings include non-spill shutoff valves that ensure drip-free disconnects. The dry-break style design of the NS1 provides ultra-low air inclusion, minimizing contaminants and eliminating the need to purge air bubbles from systems. With its intuitive, ergonomic thumb latch, the NS1 provides users the Colder Click – the sound that lets them know a connection has been made. In addition, connections require minimal alignment, allowing the tubing to rotate freely without kinking or twisting, unlike many threaded connections.

The non-spill technology in this tiny connector provides the opportunity for a truly closed system and a cleaner, safer connection for small tubing diameters where space is at a premium.

NS1 Series Features

  • Constructed from polypropylene and PEEK
  • Reliable strength and chemical compatibility
  • Available for precise applications
  • Tubing sizes less than 1/8"
