Digital tool data management

The TDM Base Module offers a basic configuration of predefined base data to describe tools and their use in detail.

The module depicts lists, tool assembly information, and workpiece setting sheets. Data and documents about the tool can be filed for every area represented on the software. Feed and speed data define conditions of use specific to materials and cutting grades, and record collision parameters and presetting data for tool assembly.

Linking tool items, tool assemblies, and tool lists allows the user to see which items are built where and where they are on the tool lists. The module also provides information for the tool crib, including the location of tool items at workspaces, the management of parts in need of repair, and the minimum stock level.

5-axis jig boring-milling machine

The Yasada YBM Vi40 5-axis vertical CNC jog boring-milling machine offers 5-sided machining in a single set-up. A symmetric bridge-type structure results in high precision, and single-piece cast-iron construction – including the column and top beam – increases rigidity.

The YBM Vi40 features a thermal distortion stabilizing system where the X- Y- Z-axes and two rotational axes (B/C) are maintained to within ±2°C of shop ambient.

Spindle bearing preload self-adjusting technology provides optimum preload at the full range of spindle speeds. A mechanism applies a large preload at low-speed rotation, and the preload decreases according to the amount of heat generated by the spindle bearing at high-speed rotation.

Automatic tool changer

The CTA-HSL tool exchanger, with a compact tool magazine, is designed to accommodate a high quantity of toolholders in a restricted area, particularly for smaller machine tools.

A CTA dual-motion cam-operated exchanger performs the high speed and mechanically synchronized movements for grasping, extracting, exchanging, and inserting the tools simultaneously between the spindle and the magazine, plus the release of the tool grippers. A mechanical exchange arm with dual rapid-release gripper hands, a tool storage magazine, and a toolholder tilt unit are included in the CTA-HSL tool changer.

The tool changer is suitable for applications on CNC milling machines, vertical and horizontal machining centers, CNC lathes, and multi-tasking machines.
