Tiger-tec Silver for turning; Titex X-treme Inox solid carbide drills; Proto-max Inox solid carbide end mills; the ValCool VPLFC low-foaming coolant; and indexable milling cutters will be exhibited at the show. Tiger-tec Silver is resistant to crater and flank wear and plastic deformation. Titex X-treme Inox solid carbide drills for stainless steel provide flute profile, point geometry and TTP coating. The Proto?max Inox solid carbide end mills for stainless steel achieve material removal rates up to 50 percent greater than standard solid carbide end mills. The ValCool VPLFC is a non-chlorinated, semi-synthetic low-foaming cutting fluid which helps reject tramp oils and is suitable for high-pressure (1,000psi+) applications.

Multi-Carb End Mills
The Multi-Carb incorporates a number of flutes for stability and high-feed finishing capabilities in applications where surface finish and tolerance are important. Available with seven, nine, or 11 flutes, the odd number of cutting flutes control natural harmonics while staggering entry and exit of the cutting edges. Design of the cutting geometry is for finishing materials such as titanium, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Applications include aerospace structure components, ferrous housings, pumps and manifolds, defense applications, and medical components.

End Mill Toolholders
Manufactured using an internal grinding technique that reduces total indicator runout (TIR) to 0.0002" are the Tru Position Eccentric Ground Toolholders. In addition, less runout allows a more even chip load and a reduction in chatter, while fewer passes to mill slots, due to improved on-center rotation, saves time.

Adjustable Locking Hubs
The Variloc adjustable locking hubs, available in stainless steel or plastic, are positive locking at exact increments, 10° or 15°, depending on the model. Applications include adjustable or rotating fixtures, welding fixtures, trunnion mounting, adjustable and/or foldable handles, adjustable part trays and shelves, adjustable and/or flip-up work surfaces, positive positioning of spotlights or nozzles, and collapsible structures. Medical applications include folding and adjustment mechanisms for wheelchairs. The hubs can also act as an end effector on medical equipment to allow the operator to change the angle of operation. Steel and stainless steel hubs are available in two styles, including an in-line version, which allows locking anywhere within 220°, and an offset version, which allows full 360° rotation. Once locked, the hub becomes a rigid joint, able to withstand 80ft/lb of torque.

Tool Selection Software
The Iscar Tool Advisor (ITA) is a web-based tool selection software built on a mathematical algorithm. The ITA application provides an effective process of narrowing down all possible tooling scenarios, taking into account cutting conditions, machine power, metal removal rate, and cutting time. Users can enter a few mandatory fields (two to six) for quick results or complete additional detailed fields specifying machine parameters, tool diameters, tool type, grade, etc. The application provides the three best tooling options but can display up to 25 tool recommendations per application search. ITA supports both inch and metric platforms and supports 25 different languages.

Machining Coolants
The WS 7450 is a heavy-duty, chlorinated semi-synthetic coolant that forms a transparent micro-emulsion when mixed with water. WS 7450HP has a similar formulation but also offers foam control for CNC and grinding operations. Both coolants can be used on a range of metals including stainless steel alloys, cast aluminum, ferrous metals, and cast iron. They offer good rust and corrosion protection for the inner workings of the machine tool and pressure lubrication, which can increase the life of the tool while also providing surface finish.

Minature Solid
CarbideThread Mills

Due to their size and design, the new thread mills can increase productivity in several ways. For maximum efficiency and cost savings, the new thread mills eliminate the possibility and consequences of tap breakage. Thread mills are available in three-flute versions for high volume output needs and a one-flute version on its smallest diameter thread mill in the series. The new thread mills remove costly manual operations by eliminating the need for hand tapping during full bottom threading applications. Bottom threading can be performed to within one-pitch. The miniature thread mills function highly efficiently with externally supplied coolant and eliminate the need for thread cutting oil, so parts and coolant reservoirs are not contaminated, as can be experienced when using a tapping method in difficult materials.

Flat Pneumatic Pallet
Featuring a fast stroke and clamping stroke, the Vero-S NSE mini has integrated turbo function and pull-in forces of up to 1,500N at a module diameter of 90mm.The clamping pin is positioned via a short taper and is fixed with three clamping slides. Locking is done mechanically via spring force. It is self-locking and form-fitted. The large contact surfaces between clamping slide and pin minimize the surface pressure in unclamped condition. Because the minimum clearance between two clamping pins amounts to 100mm, the NSE mini has variable gages for bore holes for workpiece and pallet clamping.

Strong ToolHolding System
The Safe-Lock principle works like this: Spiral-shaped grooves are ground into the cutting tool shank. In combination with corresponding carbide drive pins in the toolholder (shrink fit, collet, or hydraulic chucks), they prevent the tool from twisting or pulling out of the chuck during machining applications. In one application, a Safe-Lock shrink-fit chuck with a 32mm clamping bore and a length of 120mm was used on a vertical portal-milling machine with an HSK-A 100 interface. For roughing and machining, one coated solid carbide tool was used, having an effective cutting length of 83mm. The tool did not move in the chuck during the entire machining process.

Reliable Part Placement

Maintaining a precise location when machining seems simple to the naked eye, but when chips, and pieces of the milled workpiece begin to jam inbetween your part and the stop, the smallest shift can cause your part to fall out of conformance. This leads to time and money wasted by scrapping the part, or reworking it. Previous Lightnin Rod models have only been able to detect placement within 0.0002" of ferrous materials, although the LR7000 opens the technology up to all materials. The LR7000 notifies the operator of a gap between the workpiece of any material and the stop.
