First Ideas to Action contest opens
Versicor officials are currently accepting applications for the company’s inaugural Ideas to Action award (I2A) contest. Designed to help large and small technology entrepreneurs transform their medical, clean-tech, or transportation project ideas into products, Versicor will provide $250,000 worth of electronics, controls, and software development services to award recipients.
Selected winners will gain access to Versicor’s unique platform and team of engineers.
“We are thrilled to launch the Ideas to Action program that helps a company’s ideas come to life,” says Christie Coplen, president of Versicor. “Through this award, our goal is to recognize product ideas in their infancy so we can better assess and deliver tangible products that embody their full potential.”
The first round of I2A will accept applications through Aug. 15, 2014. Winners will be announced on Aug. 30, 2014.

Sourcing the ideal sensor
A new white paper from Gems Sensors is introducing engineers to easier ways of finding fluid sensors. “Simplifying the Search for the Perfect Fluid Sensor,” covers a number of methods by which engineers can source sensors matched to specific application and manufacturing needs. Topics include:
- Embracing technology alternatives
- Taking advantage of expertise
- Accessing vendors and the choices they provide
- Obtaining knowledge of vendor manufacturing capabilities
- Factoring in global requirements
The paper includes real-world examples to help engineers hone their skills in sourcing workable and successful solutions for their design projects.

Catalog features range of fittings, valves, regulator, and orifices
The Beswick Engineering 2014 catalog contains more than 150 new product items, including miniature fittings (compression, barb, and push-to connect), valves, quick disconnects, pressure regulators, and orifices for fluid power assemblies requiring durable products. Ultra-miniature in design, Beswick products save floor space and eliminate leakage. Utilizing a captured O-ring face seal in miniature fluid power products, Beswick components provide a leak-tight fit and consistent performance.
MDA 2014 showcasing IFPE Fluid Power Zone
Building off the success of IFPE Fluid Power Zone’s debut at Industrial Automation North America 2012, Hannover Fairs USA (HFUSA) has again partnered with the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) to host the IFPE Fluid Power Zone during its inaugural Motion Drive & Automation North America 2014 (MDA North America) trade show and conference. MDA North America and Industrial Automation NA are co-located with IMTS 2014, running Sept. 8-13, 2014, at McCormick Place, Chicago.
The IFPE Fluid Power Zone is designed as a dedicated exhibitor space within MDA North America to showcase new and recently launched fluid power and machine control design technologies.
“In the IFPE Fluid Power Zone, companies big and small will be launching products that are vitally important to the factory of the future,” says Larry Turner, CEO of HFUSA. “We’re thrilled to host the IFPE Fluid Power Zone in conjunction with NFPA to offer attendees access to groundbreaking products from leading global companies. Many of the IFPE Fluid Power Zone 2012 exhibitors are returning this year and have booked bigger stands,” Turner adds.
