Advanced tool presetters

Elbo Controlli 66B and 68B tool presetters feature an increased measuring range (from 600mm for the 66B and 800mm for the 68B on the Z-axis), a 15" TFT touchscreen, optical autofocus, and new electronic controls. Designed completely to be freestanding on its own integral base; the presetters feature a ground granite and stainless steel construction.

The high precision spindle system is fully interchangeable and utilizes a one-piece cartridge with full mechanical tool clamping (pneumatically drawing the tool pull stud into the taper cone) – eliminating the need for adaptors and the errors associated with their use.

All axis movements on the 66B and 68B models are servo-controlled with no operator contact with the column. This feature increases machine accuracy and repeatability compared to similar machines that incorporate the movement via a handle mounted on the column.

Also included with the tool presetters is the ToolingUp software package. Working via a DNC ystem, ToolingUp converts measured tool data into CNC code for direct loading into the machine controller and associated tool offset pages.

Form, fit, & function sensors

Employing Merit Medical’s Silicon Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) technology, the BP series of medical pressure sensors exploit all of the technology’s benefits, including low-cost, item-to-item reproducibility, and ruggedness. The BP series operates in the pressure measurement range of -30mm Hg to +300mm Hg and is compatible in air, gas, and liquid, including blood.

Designed for large volume applications, the BP series sensors are also compatible with automated assembly equipment. The series was designed for disposable blood pressure monitoring but is also applicable in a broad range of additional medical measurement applications, including kidney dialysis and infusion pumps.

Typical accuracy of the sensor is better than 1% of reading throughout the entire pressure and temperature range. The sensor can also maintain this level of accuracy across voltage ranges of 1V to 10V. These small devices measure 8.1mm x 10.5mm, weigh 2g, and are suitable for ETO sterilization.

High-precision vertical jig boring-milling machine

The Yasda YBM 640V3 3-axis CNC vertical jig borer provides high speed, precision boring, and milling operations for high-accuracy, complex component manufacturing. Simplifying moldmaking in a range of industries, the accuracy and rigidity of the YBM 640V3 Jig Borer virtually eliminates the need for hand polishing.

To minimize vibration during acceleration and deceleration, a reinforcement rib under the bridge provides great rigidity. To reduce thermal distortion, a bridge cooling system is located under the X-axis guide, and a jacket cooling system for X- and Y-axis ball nuts prevents loss of ball screw pre-tension. Productivity is further increased by improved chip disposal and large coolant and lubrication tank capacities.

The Yasda YBM 640V3 is the smallest of a complete vertical line-up of Yasda CNC Jig Borers with the largest 1218V model reaching travels of 71.0" (1,800mm) x 47.0" (1,200mm) x 23.6" 600mm.
