Maximum Power, Smallest Space
The typical issue found with micro drives of this size, 4mm, is the output power is too low for the application requirements because of the physical limitations. However, the EC4 4mm diameter brushless DC motor and gearhead delivers increased performance using the latest winding technology along with the most powerful magnets available. This motor is available in two lengths – short version with 0.5W nominal power, or long version with 1.0W nominal power.
Engineers also incorporated a high quality gearhead to ensure optimum continuous running. High performance ceramics are used for the gearhead carrier to make the motor capable of high input speeds and drive torques. The speed/torque gradient of the EC 4 is 50,000rpm mNm-1 with a continuous torque of 0.4mNm.

Precision Linear Actuators, Strong Linear Forces
Based on modified hybrid stepping motors, ElectroCraft’s AxialPower Plus linear actuators are capable of producing linear forces up to 800 lb and resolutions up to 0.000125" per 1.8° step. Available in NEMA frame sizes 11, 17, 23, and 34 these actuators provide torques to 395oz/in or 280Ncm.
The reliability and precision of the AxialPower Plus and L3 linear actuators come from using only the highest quality parts to increase the durability of the actuating lead screws, and the internal rotating nuts are made from a range of engineered polymers, which provide low-friction smooth operation.
For applications needing a little more force, try the L3 linear actuators.

Conserve Space with Nano-Sized Connectors
The new SureCon 360 connectors are designed with pin and socket elements positioned on 0.025" spacing to reduce size and weight by as much as three times that of conventional micro-sized circular connectors. Typically, the installed wiring is 32 gauge standard Teflon insulated copper wire and can carry up to 1 ampere of current per line.
Nano-circular connector use is rapidly expanding as chip voltage and current ratings are downsizing. Robotics and prosthetic devices utilize the nano-sized connectors in-line at key joint and bending positions to assist in signal transmission as well as allow quick repair and replacement of the extended portions of the instrument. SureCon offers designs, using high-speed cable that include shielding and drain wire systems, similar to Surfire cabling, to help reduce EMI and provide better transmission of differential signal pairs used in fast transfer of digital images.
Many of the world’s smallest and ruggedized ultra-miniature circular connectors are used within medical, commercial, and military applications that require the best electrical performance for portable and miniature electronics. To ensure integrity, Omnetics used gold plated contacts that are polarized and shrouded by its unique liquid crystal polymer insulators. Designed to assist in pre-mating alignment, the over-molded shells also hold the connectors securely in place to guarantee a watertight seal. The cable jackets, strain relief system, and cable surfaces are designed to have a good tactile feel and maintain flexibility while providing a secure grip. Connector insulator sizes of six, 11, and 16 positions are available with cables pre-attached. Connector body formats include in-line and protruding panel mount shells. Custom wire or cable designs are available.
