Scalable solution with range of dental milling machines
The D5 Entry and the D5LS dental milling machines complement the existing D5 Standard. These Datron machines are scalable, meeting the needs of a wide range of dental labs. They enable milling of zirconia and other soft materials as well as harder materials such as chrome cobalt and titanium.
D5 Entry delivers precision of ±10µm and comes with a manual (puck) changer. The system can be upgraded to include automation if the lab’s needs change.
Equipped with Heidenhain linear scales for high positioning accuracy, the D5 LS is more precise than the other two DS versions. In addition, D5 LS’ increased thermal stability provides consistent quality even when there are significant room temperature fluctuations or temperature increases from extended uninterrupted milling. This results in a repeatability of <2µm and an absolute accuracy of ±5µm.

Toolholder line expanded with added tooling
The use of high-pressure coolant is growing as manufacturers look for ways to reduce cutting time, improve machining process reliability, and achieve longer tool life. JHP tools – those for high-pressure coolant and those without the internal coolant feature – provide these advantages and expand the range of Swissturn square-shank toolholders. Designed for Swiss-type automatics and CNC machines, the line includes tools for ISO standard screw-clamped and lever-lock rhombic 80° (C-type), 55° (D-type), and 35° (V-type) inserts, all with 7° positive flank relief inclination.
Because of the confined space and tight arrangement of the tools inside Swiss-type machines, the Swissturn tools feature small shank sizes with insert cutting edges in line with the shank, to avoid collision. The new tools can be used for longitudinal, face, and profiling applications on small-diameter parts.

A range of different workholding options
Five-axis machining varies from very small to extremely large; it requires the right workholding to obtain optimal machining results; and no single workholding option solves every need. Part complexity and size requirements, coupled with machine capabilities and limitations, dictate what workholding functions best.
Meeting these challenges are 15 Kurt 5-axis options that can hold parts sizes from 0.15" up to the size of the CNC machine table. Also included in the lineup are low-profile and high-profile designs, risers to lift parts higher off the table to achieve additional clearance, and options to bolt directly to the machine table.
Vise configurations/options
Kurt MaxLock self-centering multi-axis vises
- Reversible 2.5" & 4.0" jaw widths
- OD and ID clamping
- Can hold parts up to 6.5" long
Kurt MaxLock Anglock muti-axis vise
- Minimizes part lift, pulls parts down
- Holds parts with max. rigidity
- Modular design mounts on 2.0" grid patterns

Super high performance grinding oil for profile, flute grinding
Developed for profile and flute grinding of steel alloys – in particular for high-speed steel and medical steel – the SintoGrind HSS is based on synthetic polyalphaolefins, free of chlorine and heavy metal compounds. All additives are synthetic and have excellent high pressure and lubrication properties, and the product is physiologically safe. Oil misting and evaporating tendency is very low, and it has an excellent viscosity-temperature relationship.
Because of its 100% synthetic formula, SintoGrind HSS cools, lubricates, and cleans better than mineral-oil-based grinding oil, so grinding wheels remain clean and unclogged. SintoGrind HSS has an extremely low evaporation and misting rate, sheds air very quickly, and does not foam. Tangential forces and workpiece temperatures are greatly reduced with the use of SintoGrind HSS.

Swiss turning inserts
MESI chipbreakers for Swiss turning and small-parts machining feature a 15° nose, a sharp 8° main edge, and provide a low cutting force. Available chipbreaker geometries include CCGT, DCGT, and VCGT, with grades including AC510U/520U/530U/AC610M/630M. A wavy cutting edge maintains better chip control (for bar feeder machines), while incorporation of dimples reduces cutting temperatures.

Blasting trays of components
Model RB-600 robotic blast machine precisely repeats programmed surface preparation routines on individual components, automatically processing a tray of like parts without interruption. A 6-axis Fanuc LR Mate 200iC robot, mounted upside down on an engineered structure under the roof of the grit-blasting chamber acts as a component manipulator. The articulated arm is fitted with a pneumatically actuated gripper and a suit of laminated fabric to isolate the robot from harsh environments.
Like components in a production lot are placed in a custom-designed tray or pallet that orients the parts for robotic picking. The tray is placed on the transfer cart at one end of the system, and a bar code is scanned to identify the part number to be processed, automatically calling up the associated robot motion programs and blast process parameters.
The transfer cart shuttles in and out of the blast chamber at the end of each cycle, so a finished component can be returned to the tray and the component-handling robot can pick up an unblasted part. To ensure accurate positioning, the motion of the cart is servomotor driven and controlled as a seventh axis of robotic motion.
A single pressure-blast nozzle is bracketed in position within easy reach for the robot to hold the component in the blast stream at the correct angle and distance. The robot can then turn and move the part at the right surface speed for thorough surface preparation, efficiently following the programmed tool path to ensure complete coverage without over-blasting.
A second gripper is installed on the inside of the cabinet wall to temporarily hold the component and enable the robot to re-grip the part and obtain 100% coverage by blasting those areas masked by the first grip.

Precise probing
Design for inspection in tight spaces, the m&h IRP40.50 infrared touch probe addresses the needs of miniature machining centers. The m&h IRP40.50 is a self-contained, wireless CNC probe with a diameter of 25.0mm, a length of 44.2mm without shank and stylus, and a probing force of 0.7N (X-Y). The probe’s dimensions enable measurement of small and delicate workpieces. With the shank and stylus included, the IRP40.50 is slightly larger than a standard USB stick.
Because there is little room in the Z-axis and the tool magazine, it is difficult to measure small parts. Design and size of the m&h IRP40.50 eliminates this concern and leaves enough room to measure in the Z-axis without the danger of collision. The stylus threading is M2 but allows fast probe cycles at speeds up to 2,000mm/min.

High-speed, 6-flute, high-performance end mills
A new series of 6-flute high performance end mills, the T-Carb product line, is suitable for aggressive, high-speed machining applications using trochoidal and peel milling techniques. The 6-flute design allows machining at higher feed rates while reducing tool loads, ultimately preventing breakage and failure. The variable pitch geometry allows the T-Carb to perform in multiple operations calling for roughing and finishing, resulting in faster cycle times and lower costs.
For medical replacement parts and joints where aggressive ramping at high speeds is critical to performance, the end mill offers advantages.
T-Carb 6-flute high performance end mills are available in a variety of length, neck, and corner radius options with Ti-Namite-X coating for thermal barrier protection, superior adhesion, and longer tool life.
