High Productivity Medical Manufacturing
A new line of CNC horizontal machining centers comes in two platforms. The N2 platform is a high-productivity solution contained in a small package that consumes less than 26ft2 of floor space (includes coolant tank and standard chip management). The 5-axis N2-5XA configuration pushes this productivity even further with five-sided part accessibility and opportunities to consolidate operations.

The 4-axis N2 offers a 400mm high, 400mm-diameter cylindrical work envelope with X-, Y-, and Z-axis travels of 300mm x 300mm x 230mm, and a 300mm diameter direct-drive rotary table. The 5-axis N2-5XA shares the same linear axes and includes twin, trunnion-style direct-drive A and B rotary axes for the production of complex, contoured parts. The N2-5XA can hold 300mm cylindrical workpieces that are up to 270mm high (11.8" x 10.6"), with a maximum payload of 66 lb (30kg). The N2 and N2-5XA are equipped with a 20,000rpm HSK-40 spindle that accelerates to full rpm in just 0.8 seconds. Four spindle nozzles provide coolant directly to the cutting zone for efficient cooling and improved part quality.

Three-Flute Carbide End Mills

Design of the Q Ball line of 3-flute carbide end mills is for use in metalcutting applications. The Q Ball’s core and edge design features improve shearing ability while maintaining cutting-edge strength, resulting in a smoother entry and free-cutting action, as well as faster chip removal and improved finish.

A 3-flute center cutting, eccentric relief design allows for higher feedrates for most materials. Q Ball carbide end mills are available with a 1/4" shank diameter, with end mill diameters ranging from 1/32" to 1/4". Specialty coatings are available.

Multi-Colored Fluorescent Dyes

A full line of Spectroline fluorescent leak detection dyes specially formulated for oil-based industrial fluid systems is now available in a choice of seven distinct colors to help differentiate between leaking fluid systems, especially those leaks where portions of the hoses are hidden from view.

Solid Carbide End Mills

Made for machining ISO M materials for applications in medical engineering, the Prototyp Protomax Inox solid carbide end mill typically boosts stainless steel machining performance by as much as 50% compared to other solid carbide end mills. The Protomax features 4-flute cutting with two internal helical coolant channels for high coolant delivery and efficient chip removal, ensuring process stability and increased tool life.

The end mills feature TAA coating with a TiAIN base. They also have an optimized micro-geometry to increase wear resistance and protect against edge build up. Surface Finish Measurement Integrated Within CMM Routines
Renishaw’s SFP1 probe option for the REVO 5-axis measurement system is the first to allow surface finish inspection to integrate fully within coordinate measurement routines. With a measurement capability of 6.3Ra to 0.05Ra, the SFP1 surface finish probe makes the CMM a single platform metrology system, eliminating the need for handheld surface measurement devices or transporting parts to a dedicated surface measuring machine, reducing labor costs and inspection lead times. The system allows automated switching between dimensional measurement and surface finish measurement, with the analysis contained in a single report.

The SFP1 probe is a fully-integrated option for the REVO 5-axis measurement system, supplied with two dedicated styli, straight and cranked, with selection via the measurement program control using the system’s modular rack system (MRS). The probe incorporates a C-axis that, combined with the infinite positioning of the REVO head and choice of stylus holders, allows the probe tip to be automatically oriented to any angle to suit the part, ensuring acquisition of the highest quality surface data.
