Formula for High Power Density
The EC 40 40mm brushless motor features a neodymium permanent magnet, stainless steel housing, and welded flanges. It features a very flat speed/torque gradient (about 3.6rpm/mNm), mechanical time constant 2.1ms, permissible speed 18,000rpm, and efficiency of 89%. The ironless winding offers extra quiet running and high stall torque. The EC 40 is combinable with a multitude of components, such as encoders or gears, while the permanent magnet brake AB 32 joins the maxon modular system and is designed for operating temperatures of -40°C to +100°C, and is the EC 40's perfect match.

Linear Actuator Configuration Replaces 42mm Packages
A new version of the 36mm G4 linear actuator, in a new configuration, includes a special adapter plate that allows the smaller 36mm OD unit to replace 42mm and 46mm units in existing applications. Performance of the 36mm G4 linear actuator not only exceeds the performance of comparable size actuators, it approaches the performance of larger 42mm and 46mm linear actuators from various manufacturers. The 36mm unit with the integrated adapter plate allows users to replace existing 42mm and 46mm units easily by using the same bolt pattern and pilot surface.
Among the advantages of substituting with the 36mm G4 linear actuator is the smaller linear actuator body, which is especially important when space is a premium, and a lower cost system, compared with the larger-size units. With the G4 linear actuator, both can be accomplished without sacrificing performance or lifespan. Force output range for the G4 linear actuator is from 70N to 260N (16 lb to 58 lb).
The G4 linear actuator architecture employs the latest technologies to extend reliability and meet high-performance requirements. The design utilizes optimized teeth geometry along with high-energy neodymium magnets, resulting in a higher continuous force output in a small package. With 20% higher output force across the entire speed range compared with other designs of similar size, the G4 incorporates the latest custom-engineered plastics and larger bearings for greater rotor support and higher axial load capability.
As with other Haydon stepper motor line actuators, three configurations are available: captive, non-captive, and external linear.

Miniature Couplings for Medical Applications
Ruland offers miniature rigid couplings for a wide variety of medical devices. Common applications include test and measurement systems, imaging, patient positioning, and liquid handling such as chromatography. Rigid couplings are zero-backlash, torsionally stiff, and have high torque capacity. They should be used when shaft misalignment is neither present nor desired, with the rigid coupling often used to help establish the alignment. Ruland rigid couplings feature precision honed bores on straight bore couplings for improved fit and straightness as well as Nypatch treated hardware that resists loosening in vibratory conditions. Rigid couplings with bore sizes as small as 3mm are available in carbon steel, high-grade aluminum for low inertia, and 303 stainless steel.
All Ruland products are RoHS and REACH compliant. Miniature rigid couplings are part of Ruland's complete product line, which includes shaft collars, rigid couplings, and five types of flexible couplings with zero-backlash: beam couplings, bellows couplings, oldham couplings, disc couplings, and curved jaw couplings.

Quick Adjustment at the Push of a Button
Quick-release nut for DryLin lead screw tables makes format adjustments faster and easier by reducing the number of revolutions required to position the carriage on a lead screw assembly with a small pitch. When equipped with the quick-release nut, a DryLin lead screw table is adjustable by simply pushing a button, which releases the linear slide from the thread. The carriage can be manually pushed into place and locked in position. Adjustments requiring increased precision are by use of the mechanism's hand wheel. The nut uses a fast-action release, which makes it possible for half of the thread transmitting the force to move out of the threaded area. Once any adjustments are made, the partial thread locks back into its other half when the push-button is released. igus supplies its DryLin modular guide systems with quick-release nuts in two different styles: HTS, a flexible slide table system available with several shaft and screw combinations, including hard-anodized aluminum, steel, and stainless steel; or HTSP, a lightweight, cost-effective alternative that uses plastic blocks. In the near future, the quick-release nuts will be available as an individual part with a flange and aluminum housing.

Rugged Metal Electro-Optic Sensor
The low cost, miniature ELS-950M series of Electro Optic Level Sensors (ELS) expands on the existing ELS-950 product line with a brass housing to perform in harsh environments, maintain integrity in temperatures ranging from -40°F to +230°F, and pressures to 250psi.
ELS-950M liquid level sensors feature an over-molded electronics insert, TPE insulated wires, and a flurocarbon O-ring seal to create a watertight, environmentally-resistant assembly. The ELS-950M is UL and CE approved to EMI standards and shock and vibration tested to MIL standards, IP66/67, and RoHS compliant. These robust sensors are available in 5VDC or 12VDC models with mounting options of 1/4" NPT, 1/2"–20UNF-2B, or M12x1-8.
The compact size, durability, and low cost of the sensor create an excellent option for liquid level applications in medical diagnostic equipment, sterilizers, washers, dialysis equipment, lubricant systems in machine tools, and more.
