Range of Turning Toolholders
Demand for the ability to apply high-pressure coolant at point-of-cut, when using negative inserts, is answered by the extended CoroTurn HP range of turning toolholders with integrated high pressure delivery capability. When roughing difficult materials, the toolholders offer up to a 20% increase in cutting speed. Additionally, when roughing or finishing challenging workpiece materials, the toolholders deliver up to 50% more tool life. The accurate coolant jets of CoroTurn HP improve machining performance by delivering cutting fluid at the precise point of cut, thereby removing heat more efficiently and reducing subsequent problems of accelerated wear. The technology also helps eliminate the re-machining of chips by keeping the cutting zone free of removed material, reducing the potential for component damage and permitting the scheduling of unmanned operations. The current toolholder program is now increased with the introduction of a further 38 toolholders in C5, C6, and C8 Coromant Capto coupling sizes, which are designed to accommodate negative inserts in C-, S- and D-styles.

EDM Diesinking Machine Delivers Micro Machining
The FO350 MS diesinking EDM utilizes MicroTEC discharge circuitry – enabling EDM power to be modulated while having the flexibility necessary to maximize material removal – which allows a reduced electrode undersize of ≤0.002". Combining all of these features enables higher machining output while maintaining the geometry of the electrodes due to an extremely low wear rate. Additionally, an increase in Z-axis motion speed and acceleration allow the FO350 MS to improve performance by approximately 30% for medium to deep rib machining. FO350 MS also includes a double thermo stabilization system allowing for maximum accuracy. Pulsed air, circulating in the cabin, is cooled in real time according to the temperature of the dielectric, by a double differential temperature probe. The whole of the main frame, and the X, Y, and Z-axes, are thermostabilized in the same way as the entire machine. Circulation of the dielectric is integrated into the worktable, preventing the risk of thermal shocks when filling the tank.

Computer Simulation Tool Specifically for Tapping
Traditionally, tapping is much more difficult to simulate due to the 3D geometry of thread cutting. However, Dormer’s R&D site in Halmstad, Sweden, in co-operation with Third Wave Systems of Minneapolis, MN, has developed a new tapping simulation tool. The software – AdvantEdge – is the only Dynamic 3D FEM/FEA tool currently available for tapping and is being used by Dormer to develop a new line of taps for heat-resistant materials scheduled for launch towards the end of 2010. AdvantEdge is a finite element modeling (FEM) and finite element analysis (FEA) software package used to simulate machining requirements in a virtual world – replacing the trial-and-error method of testing. Benefits include increased tool life, predicted shape, shortened product-design cycles, and reduced costs.

Solid Carbide Spiral O Flute Router Bits
Solid carbide spiral O flute router bits are made according to strict tolerances, from an exclusive carbide grade, and are designed to eject chips either up or down – making them ideal for industrial applications and CNC systems. Spiral plastic cutting solid carbide O-flute mirror finish router bits are designed for use in a range of materials. The aluminum cutting solid carbide O-flute mirror finish router bits are available in diameters ranging from 1/8" to 1/4". Bits are designed with either a right-hand Helix (1/4" plastic  #51404; 1/4" aluminum #51402), which is designed to eject the chips upward, or a left-hand Helix (1/4" plastic #51504; 1/4" aluminum #51502), designed to eject the chips downward.
