32-Tool Mill/Turn Center
The 52-TTMY CNC mill/turn center comes, with 32-tools, a Mitusbishi control, and features full bar, chuck, and shaft machining capability with 2" bar capacity and 6" chucks. The integral main and sub-spindles both feature 6,000rpm capability for fine surface finishes, as well as a C-axis so that milling and drilling operations can be completed all in one operation on the front and back-side of the workpiece. The Y-axis features ±40mm of off-center movement to allow the completion of off-center work in the same chucking. The 0.3 second indexing of the dual 16-station live tool turrets helps keep cycle times low.

Two-axis Lathe Offers Speed, Accuracy, Flexibility
The LB-EX series of horizontal CNC lathes offers new standards for speed, accuracy, and flexibility in the 2-axis lathe category. All LB-EX models feature the operator-friendly THINC-OSP control – a true PC, Windows-based platform with open architecture, plug and work USB capability, and 40GB of memory – making it easy to connect to peripheral equipment and utilize other machine tool accessories, improving productivity and data gathering. Features in the LB-EX series are:

  • Strength – thoroughly designed for rigidity, power, and productivity from the base, to the motors, to the turret and tooling system – equipped with a compact PREX motor, the LB-EX offers top rotation speed, horsepower and torque;
  • Accuracy – built on a box slant bed with a thermal compensation system, the LB-EX is able to achieve machining dimensional change over time of less than Ø7µm, allowing part runs from a cold start; and
  • Flexibility – easy set-up, multiple bed and spindle sizes, and nearly 70 option variations, including milling (M), sub-spindle (W) and Y-axis capabilities, make these machines capable of fitting your diverse application requirements.
  • The Robert E. Morris Co., a division of Morris Group Inc. will exhibit the Okuma line.

Cutting Solutions
Investment in productive cutting solutions enables companies to stay competitive. Special tools are developed for a particular cutting operation and are often designed to cover several different machining steps. Optimized for the required machining process enables the best conditions for high volume production of precision parts. Combination tools are a sensible alternative because they reduce the number of tool changes and increase the quality of the workpieces being machined. A range of combination tools and solutions will be on display.

Enhanced Support for Multi-Tasking Machines
Esprit 2010 offers improvements in the support of integrated multi-tasking, mill-turn machine tools. In the 2010 release, support for these multi-tasking machine tools has been enhanced through increased flexibility in cutting tool configurations and orientations, enabling the support of a wide variety of machines. The newly added support for additional rotary axes, three or more, allows the Esprit customer to completely program and easily simulate the most complex and sophisticated machine tools currently available on the market.

For Esprit wire-EDM customers, the 2010 version includes support for EDM machines with rotary axes, allowing EDM programmers to perform wire-EDM cutting in 5- and 6-axis using turn-and-burn, and turn-while-burn full 5-axis simultaneous cutting with a rotary table.

Simplified Tramming
The 649 Series Spindle Square for tramming the head of a vertical milling machine – which must be done regularly to ensure squareness and perpendicularity between the spindle and work surface – is now available. It offers improved accuracy, convenience, and significant time savings when compared to the traditional method of tramming with a dial test indicator. The 649 Series Spindle Square comes fully assembled with two AGD Group 2 dial indicators.

Eliminate Secondary Ops, Upgrade Machine Capacity
Unlike the first two series of adjustment-free holders, which were produced for Swiss type machines, the 3700 series adjustment-free rotary broaching toolholder features a larger bearing capacity capable of producing larger forms – popular in turning and milling machines for creating internal and external forms on the machine while eliminating secondary operations. The most common forms made with rotary broaching tools are hexagon and square holes. The 3700 series toolholder also accepts special Slater broaches, which can be used to create double hex, double square, serration, spline, and other custom forms. The value of using a rotary broaching toolholder is in the time and money savings during the operation.

CAM Software, New Direction
Delcam for SolidWorks marks a new direction for Delcam. Previously, the company has supplied all of its machining software as stand-alone systems that can be linked to any CAD program. In contrast, Delcam for SolidWorks is fully integrated into the SolidWorks environment so that the program looks and behaves like SolidWorks. It offers full associativity so that any changes in the CAD model will be reflected automatically in the toolpaths. Delcam for SolidWorks is based on proven machining algorithms that are already used by more than 30,000 customers around the world.
