The Star CNC Machine Tool ST-38 Swiss-type automatic lathe. The ST-38 Swiss-type automatic lathe targets industries requiring the machining of complex parts and difficult-to-cut materials. Providing a larger envelope capacity, the ST-38 is equipped with three turrets, with 10 tool positions on each, for machining complex operations simultaneously. Equipped with the Star Motion Control System, it provides control path and tool change optimization functions that enhance complex processes and shortens non-productive time.
Configuration of the tool post with three turrets is where one turret is used exclusively for back machining. With opposing front turret tool posts on the main/front side, complex machining is performed simultaneously, while the turret for back machining is used at the same time with the sub-spindle. In addition, the back spindle can pick up eccentric parts for back end machining.
Mounting multiple tools onto each turret station further reduces the indexing time and tool change time, while an increased rapid traverse rate of each control axis shortens movement time.
A spindle-cooling unit controls thermal displacement by exhausting heat generated on the main and sub-spindles out of the machine and the coolant chiller unit regulates coolant temperature, restricting thermal displacement.
