Super-Precision Indexing Rotary Table
The Hardinge DD100 high-speed, direct-drive, Super-Precision rotary table is a high-speed parts positioner with ±3arc/sec accuracy and 4arc/sec repeatability. As smart technology in a small footprint, it is ideal for medical, aerospace, and other industries that require super-precision parts, as well as for drill & tap and laser processing. The DD100 is capable of spindle speeds up to 4,200 deg/second and up to 600rpm continuous rotation – more than 10x faster than a gear-driven indexer.
The Hardinge A2-4 spindle nose accepts standard 5C tooling, when used with a collet closer, to provide high-precision gripping of many part shapes, sizes, and materials. Gripping options for the 5C include collets, expanding collets, step chucks for larger part diameters, jaw chucks, and fixture plates.
The Hardinge DD100 consists of a housing, bearings, encoder, and spindle, there are far fewer parts and no gears to wear. A rare earth, permanent-magnet DC torque motor is wrapped around the spindle and operates with a programmed gear ratio of one-to-one. The encoder is mounted directly to the spindle to provide super-precision position feedback. Because the direct-drive torque motor has no mechanical gearing, there is no backlash, and, since there is no backlash, bi-directional movement can be made without the need to compensate for backlash error.
The standard DD100 rotary package utilizes the Hardinge direct-drive all-digital servo control and can be used with most any machine. However, the unit is most productive as a true fourth-axis. In this case, the unit is directly connected to the machine, fully operating with the other axes.
Medical Tooling Series with MicroAdjust
The patent-pending MicroAdjust mechanism is available on the Series 712 and Series 812 extrusion tooling formedical/OEM manufacturers from Guill Tool & Engineering Co. The MicroAdjust mechanism assists users in substantially reducing any operator error that may occur when adjusting bolts for the die when extruding extremely sensitive, thin-walled, medical tubing. With MicroAdjust, movement is one-seventh of that compared to a conventional concentricity bolt, which ensures less risk of over-adjusting. In addition, the number of concentricity bolts is reduced from four to two, and there are no more opposing concentricity bolts that require backing off prior to adjusting the die.
Series 712 and 812 also work for many other complex advanced extrusion applications. Key engineering features included with the Series 712 include a multi-port spiral flow design, as well as the patented SealRite system for leak-free performance and high-speed/high-volume applications. The Series 712 is able to accept virtually all existing tooling while using external band heaters.
The Series 812 boasts an ultra low-volume design to minimize residence time, replaceable spiral flow inserts, corrugating (CVT) applications, as well as internal heaters.
Apple iPad Operated Dental Mill
The Datron D5 Dental Mill is a 5-axis, high-speed machining center designed specifically for dental milling applications including crowns, bridges, abutments, inlays, onlays, telescopes, implants, bar work, and models. Featuring seven dynamic servo drives, cast construction, and a horizontally mounted industrial spindle, it delivers efficient machining of common dental materials such as NEM, titanium, chrome-cobalt, zirconium, PMMA, wax, ceramics, and dental gypsum.
A fully integrated 5-axis automation system holds up to eight material blanks or pucks. This integrated eight-piece handling system loads and unloads blanks for unattended operation. Finished blanks can be unloaded from the machine while the machine is running.
Featuring a user-friendly touch-screen Apple iPad to control all machine functions, it is very simple to program Datron Dental software on the D5. An integrated 13-station tool changer features tool-length and tool-break sensors. The turning center of the rotary axis lies directly in the center of the material blank being milled, delivering rigidity and extremely high manufacturing accuracies. The D5 has an integrated lubrication system and dust collection to handle processing of any material.
