The unique CoolPulse process uses a specially formulated electrolyte solution with a computer-controlled DC pulse power source to achieve a new level of performance in electrolytic finishing.
This new electrolyte solution has a high electrical resistance. When a machined workpiece is immersed in the solution and a pulsed, low DC voltage charge is applied between the part and a stationary cathode, an electrostatic charge is concentrated at the sharp features, or the burrs, of the workpiece.
In higher density areas of the electrical field, burrs are dissolved and carried away by the electrolyte. By applying voltage in controlled pulses, it is possible to provide a polishing action focused on just the edges, or over the entire workpiece.
CoolPulse applications inclue: selective deburring— localized deburring of specific areas of a workpiece; internal deburring—burr removal from interior surfaces and edges; surface finishing—overall surface improvement; medical/ surgical instruments—precision deburring and polishing of delicate and high-value workpieces; and stainless steel cleaning and passivation— prevents rust and corrosion.
