The Tsugami BW329Z Swiss-type lathe uses its 3-path control system and dual independent gang slides to quickly produce complex parts. With a horizontally opposed gang tool layout and the ability to use three tools in the cut – two on the main spindle, one on the sub-spindle – this machine offers a short tool-to-tool path and fast chip-to-chip time.
The Y-axis and 8 live tool positions on the sub-spindle tool post allow milling operations, traditionally performed on the main spindle, to be performed on the sub-spindle internal to the cycle time. Other features include 60mm Z-stroke on the rear gang slide, integral spindle motors, and an integral drive guide bushing motor for fast acceleration/deceleration times and quick C-axis positioning.

The stats
- Two gang type tool posts on independent slides enable independent back side machining, simultaneous end-milling, balanced turning with front/rear posts
- Simultaneous 3-Path System control enables overlapping machining, including superposition control
- Cycle time reduction – Independent slides enable pre-positioning of the next tool
- Intelligent high-speed spindles detect tool breakage by motor load, eliminate mechanical detector
- 29 tool positions
- 330mm stroke (direct rotary guide bushing)
- Max rapid traverse rate of 35m/min
- Fanuc 31i-B CNC
- Convertible – run without guide bushing with installation of chucker kit
