Lesjöfors acquires Plymouth Spring, expands in the US

Lesjöfors acquired the assets and operations of Plymouth Spring Co. Inc., a manufacturer of custom precision metal springs, stampings, and wire form parts, located in Bristol, Connecticut. The company has a customer base consisting of more than 600 customers across multiple sectors.

ARCH Medical Solutions acquires Medical Machining Specialists

ARCH Medical Solutions Corp., an ARCH Global Precision Co., acquired Medical Machining Specialists (MMS), a full-service manufacturer of surgical instruments for the spine, orthopedic, trauma, and extremity markets. Based in Olive Branch, Mississippi, the 20,000ft2 MMS manufacturing space and its 65 employees join ARCH Medical Solutions as a third facility at the ARCH Medical Solutions – Memphis location.

TriMas acquires Omega Plastics

TriMas acquired Clinton Township, Michigan-based Omega Plastics, specialists in manufacturing custom components and devices for medical applications. Omega leverages its advanced in-house tool making capabilities, ISO13485-certified injection molding facility, and ISO Class 8 cleanroom to provide its customers a faster product development cycle, from prototype development, testing, and validation, to short- and medium-run production and assembly.

Baxter completes Hillrom acquisition

Baxter International Inc. acquired Hillrom, with a transaction value of approximately $12.5 billion. The combination unites two medtech organizations for transforming healthcare and advancing patient care worldwide. Baxter supports patients across homes, physician offices, ambulatory care centers, and nearly every hospital department. The company plans to build on its global footprint, including commercial and service infrastructure, to expand legacy Hillrom and Welch Allyn products into new international markets, bringing services to more patients and providers.

Giuseppe Accogli, formerly Baxter’s senior vice president and president, Americas and Global Business Units, was named EVP and COO. Accogli has been with Baxter for 14 years in roles of increasing responsibility. He previously worked for Medtronic plc, and in several sales, product, and marketing roles for Tyco Healthcare and then Covidien.

Star Cutter adds medical rep to sales network

Star Cutter has added Shop Solutions LLC, owned by Matt Dahms, to its sales network to expand the company’s presence within the medical industry. Shop Solutions specializes in manufacturing solutions for surgical tools used in orthopedic applications.

Dahms has been involved in the cutting tool industry for more than 35 years, with knowledge of surgical cutting devices that extends back to his tenure working for Zimmer BioMet in Warsaw, Indiana, in the early 1990s.

He founded Oak View Tooling in 1996 and sold it 13 years later. In 2009, he started Shop Solutions to help companies enter the surgical cutting devices market and to improve grinding and other processes for manufacturers within this sector. 

Dahms also helps career academies and high schools develop their hands-on skilled trades programs.
