Fixturing solutions
Ball Lock quick-change mounting system fixture plate machining kits feature new receiver bushing plugs to improve workholding. The machining kits consist of one fixture plate, four extra-long Ball Lock shanks, and four spacers that provide clearance between the fixture plate and subplate. This open space allows cutting tools to break through the fixture plate without damaging the subplate, making it possible to machine fixture plates while mounted to the same subplates they will be used with during production.
Simple-to-install plugs prevent chips and coolant from accumulating inside receiver bushings that are not in use (during certain operations). This saves time by eliminating the need to clean receiver bushings in between setups. The receiver plugs are blue anodized aluminum, a durable construction for better resistance to hot chips compared to plastic plugs.
The flush mount design does not protrude above subplate surface making it easy to clean off and ensuring no machining interference. These plugs are available in standard sizes to accommodate different hole openings and come with an O-ring and tapped hole for easy installation.
DRO with touch screen
The Positip 8016 (PT 8016) digital readout (DRO) with touch screen for manual machine tool applications adds reliability and ease-of-use to milling, drilling, boring, and turning jobs. PT 8016 DRO functions include a taper calculator, bolt-hole pattern routine, and tool radius compensator with absolute and incremental distance-to-go modes. It can control up to three NC analog, point-to-point axes and a spindle with the PT 8016 Active Version.
Users can plug in up to six encoders – either 1Vpp or 11µApp incremental or absolute EnDat 2.2 pure serial. It stores up to 100 datums and 100 tool parameters, with room for creating, storing, and executing programs.
The PT 8016 replaces the PT 880.
Machining holes, countersinks in carbide and ceramics
DDHM CVD diamond-tipped tool system machines bores and countersinks in carbides and sintered ceramics with a hardness of up to 3,000HV. Used on conventional milling or turning centers, these tools eliminate grinding and eroding processes.
The tools can drill into solid material to a 10xD max. depth. The CVD-D-tipped drilling tools have a two-edged design and are available in 2mm to 10mm (0.079" to 0.394") diameters. All versions feature an internal coolant supply.
