One-component, dual-cure epoxy
UV15DC80-1Med epoxy features a dual-cure mechanism using UV light for initial fixation followed by heat for complete polymerization. This allows it to cure shadowed areas that, in traditional UV adhesives, don’t receive sufficient UV exposure. The epoxy is suitable for intricate parts and complex geometries, and meets ISO 10993-5 cytotoxicity standards, making it biocompatible for medical device applications.
UV15DC80-1Med is highly resistant to radiation, liquid sterilants, and autoclaving. The one-part, no-mix epoxy has a moderate viscosity of 20,000cps to 40,000cps for versatile dispensing. It bonds strongly to various substrates including metals, glass, ceramics, and many plastics. Tensile strength exceeds 5,000psi at 75°F. The cured adhesive offers a wide service temperature range from -80°F to 350°F (-62°C to 177°C) and a high glass transition temperature of 125°C to 135°C. It also maintains optical clarity with a refractive index of 1.52 at 589nm.
As a cationic system, UV15DC80-1Med exhibits minimal sensitivity to oxygen. Initial UV cure/tack can be achieved in seconds with UV light (325nm to 365nm) at a minimum UV radiation intensity of 20mW/cm2 to 40mW/cm2. Areas with limited UV access must be subsequently cured with heat at 80°C within 40 to 60 minutes. Post-cure at 80°C for two to four hours or 125°C for 30 to 60 minutes is recommended for maximized performance. UV15DC80-1Med is available in various container sizes from 1 ⁄ 2 pint to five gallons, as well as in 30cc syringes for manual or automated dispensing.

Indexable inserts and toolholder system
WT26 indexable inserts are now available along with a Swiss toolholder system in which the insert screw can be accessed from both sides for simple indexing. The tangentially installed and precision-ground WT26 indexable inserts are for turning and parting off/grooving parts starting from a workpiece diameter of 0.039" or 1mm.
The toolholder system is for use on Swiss turning lathes and multi-spindle machine tools. The inserts feature a chip breaker groove and sharp periphery-ground cutting edges to enable optimum machining results even at low feed rates. The available shank sizes are 1/2", 5/8", 10mm x 10mm, 12mm x 12mm, and 16mm x 16mm.
The inserts are available in two grades: WSM23X coated carbide and WN23 uncoated carbide. The former are coated in thin PVD and suitable for machining steels, stainless steels, heat-resistant super alloys, and similar materials with difficult cutting properties, as well as non-ferrous metals (ISO P, M, S, and N workpiece groups). The tough, abrasion-resistant uncoated carbide inserts are suited for machining non- ferrous metals (ISO N) as well as steel, heat-resistant super alloys, and other non-ISO materials, such as carbon fiber-reinforced plastic and carbon fiber composites. Both insert grades are suitable for grooving along close shoulders and can fit in the same toolholder.

Machine tool calibration technology
The redesigned XD Laser, which provides six degrees of freedom (6DoF) measurement data for all axis errors in a single setup, now includes improved thermal stability for accuracy and reliability under varying thermal conditions; an internal antenna for improved connectivity; and an AC adapter for more efficient power management.
The API SwivelCheck measures and calibrates machine tool rotary axes, swivel axis, tilt tables, and pendulum axes. It can be mounted off-center of the rotating axis to measure swivel axes and trunnions without disassembling critical machine tool components. It uses a servo-driven motor in conjunction with an electronic level and precision rotary encoder to measure multiple parameters in a single setup. If used with the XD Laser, the SwivelCheck can measure table wobble on horizontal rotary tables. It now offers cordless operation and has been reduced in size by 40%.
