5-axis VMC
The Mazak VARIAXIS C-600 vertical machining center is a highly capable machine with a versatile sheet-metal enclosure ready for a range of automation solutions. The VARIAXIS C-600 provides front and side automatic door operation – the machine’s full front door spans from the top to the bottom, providing easy user access and ergonomics. An automatic side door enables shops to load and unload parts with a robot, freeing up the machine’s front work area and eliminating any interference between automation and operators. Side loading also makes it easy to add standard, pre-engineered robotic part-loading systems to single-pallet/table machine configurations.
For tool-changing efficiency and unattended production, the VARIAXIS C-600 offers 30-, 60-, 90-, and 120-tool magazines as well as random access magazines that eliminate the typical wait time with other types of fixed-address tool systems.
Four spindle options are available for the VARIAXIS C-600 to help shops find the ideal balance of speed and power. In addition to the standard 12,000rpm CAT40 spindle, 15,000rpm, 18,000rpm, and 20,000rpm options are available in CAT 40, Big Plus, or HSK A-63 types. The standard 12,000rpm spindle with a motor output of 15hp (11kW) (40% ED/cont.) and torque of 70/57.3N•m (40% ED/cont.) delivers a high cost-to-performance ratio.
The high-power/high-torque 15,000rpm spindle option with a motor output of 62hp (46kW) and maximum torque of 200ft-lb (131N•m) further boosts productivity.
High-speed spindle choices include an 18,000rpm, 40hp (30kW) option and 20,000rpm, 56hp (42kW) option. Both high-speed spindles achieve aggressive material removal rates and excel with small-diameter tools for light, fast cuts.
The MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC, made specifically to maximize full 5-axis machining performance while running peripheral functions, and the associated software packages, deliver powerful digital enhancements adding efficiency and value throughout the machining process with the power of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and advanced data management technology. The control incorporates advanced programming functions to offer complete ease of use and ensure high-speed, high-accuracy machining performance.
Other MAZATROL SmoothAi functions include SMOOTH Ai Spindle, which leverages AI technology to optimize cutting conditions and surface finishes through automatic spindle vibration detection, while Ai Thermal Shield ensures stable machining accuracy through machine-learning-enhanced heat displacement compensation.

Optimized solid end mill
The expanded CoroMill Plura solid end mill family – CoroMill Plura ball nose – is optimized for semi-finishing to finishing profiling operations in ISO S applications.
Featuring up to six flutes, CoroMill Plura ball nose allows for higher feed rates without compromising the surface quality, reducing machining times and lowering cost per part.
While primarily designed for aerospace engine blisk machining, the tools are versatile enough to excel in many other application areas, such as the medical sector. Operations such as hip joints are prime examples where CoroMill Plura ball nose truly excels.
The standard assortment includes dedicated grades for titanium and HRSA, diameters ranging from 3mm to 20mm and 0.125" to 0.75", four to six flutes, 1.5xD depth of cut and usable lengths of 3xD and 5xD.
Should the standard assortment not align with specific customer needs, Sandvik Coromant offers a wide selection of customized solutions to address unique requirements.

Cutting tool grinder
The GrindSmart 660XW incorporates Rollomatic’s Ultra-Efficient Lean Grinding Process, providing the ability to cylindrically grind as well as finish grind. Designed for rotary cutting tool applications ranging from 0.1mm to 12.7mm diameter in a compact layout, the machine includes a large capacity tool loader and a high-speed wheel changer with 6 wheel-pack positions. The machine features the latest linear and torque motor technology on each axis, as well as a 14kW synchronous spindle motor. These components are cooled with the same coolant oil providing perfect thermal stability, consistent accuracy in production, and extremely good surface finish on tools.
The machine features 4 linear and 2 rotary axes. The work head, mounted on a CNC linear axis, enables tool grinding and Rollomatic’s peel grinding process combined in a single machine. Benefits of the traveling workhead for peel grinding operations is the grinding wheel is always on top of the steady rest while the work head axis is pushing the tool through the grinding wheel, providing excellent process stability.
