Clamping/unclamping units
Two new tool clamping/unclamping units for the company’s powRgrip toolholding system and a new spindle drawbar force testing tool will be shown at IMTS 2024.
The automation-ready PGA 9500 provides a simple way to automate the tool setup process when using the powRgrip toolholding system – it allows tools to be set up unmanned and around the clock. It connects, via a robot, to other equipment as well as to tool storage areas. The automatic door and easily controllable clamping device make the PGA 9500 well suited for working within existing automation systems. Its space-saving design, safe operation, and the fact that it generates no heat or hazardous fumes make the clamping unit a solution even in limited spaces.
The powRgrip Single is easy to use and provides fast, efficient, and safe operation with a cycle time of less than five seconds. It’s smaller in size and manufactured with precision that ensures strong and stable gripping for longer tool life and cost effectiveness. While existing powRgrip loading/unloading units accommodate several toolholding collet sizes, powRgrip Single is designed for one holder size series. It requires less room and saves on workbench/worktable space, allowing the unit to be placed in tight areas close to point of use.
Making machine tool spindle drawbar testing, tracking, and documenting easier is the ForceMaster drawbar tool. It allows shops to quickly measure drawbar pull-force, and the tool adapts to virtually any machine tool spindle. More than a dozen available adapters thread on to the tool to measure popular spindle tapers, including HSK, SK, BT, and CAT. With one measuring tool, operators can ensure spindle clamping force meets manufacturer recommendations to mitigate chatter, tool, and drawbar damage, while minimizing the risk of crashed spindles. ForceMaster also integrates into digital production environments and is fully accessible via a mobile phone app available for Apple and Android devices. The device dashboard can be mirrored to perform measurements remotely, and all information is downloadable for analysis and tracking.

Multitasking lathe
The Nakamura-Tome WY-100V is a two-turret, twin-spindle precision CNC multitasking lathe featuring artificial intelligence (AI)-infused software releases, enhanced multi-processing features, and faster simultaneous operations to reduce cycle time up to 30%.
The WY-100V features Nakamura-Tome’s ChronoCut technology to deliver higher spindle speeds and milling speeds than its predecessor through:
● 53% faster rigid tap operations
● 37% faster part unloading
● 22% faster C-axis positioning
● 15% faster high-speed spindle synchronization
● 11% faster turret indexing.
In addition to ChronoCut, the WY-100V’s NT Smart X control features 3D Smart Pro AI programming while the support function provides real-time 3D CAD drawing analysis for program creation for all processes from raw material to finished product.

Threading system
The MACH TT for internal thread turning applications expands the range of external applications to include solutions for IC 1/2" (L-16mm). For both external and internal applications, MACH tools work twice as fast as standard tools and are now available to provide maximized productivity and higher profitability.
MACH TT tools, with numerous features, including an improved rake and reinforced geometry, provide high resistance with a considerably reduced number of passes. The dovetail clamping system is super rigid and designed for machining heavy loads. Internal toolholders also feature an eccentric design to machine deeper holes.
The VK8 grade, with a unique AlTiN + TiN PVD coating along with an improved profile design, guarantees a superior threading surface finish for general purpose applications, maximizing productivity, decreasing machining time, and increasing tool life.
