Non-cytotoxic epoxy
Master Bond EP41S-5Med two-part epoxy system meets ISO 10993-5 requirements for non-cytotoxicity. It can be used for bonding, sealing, and coating in medical devices, featuring high temperature resistance and good strength properties. As an electrically insulative material, it can be used in medical electronic applications.
Tested against many sterilization methods, such as autoclaving, STERRAD, Cidex, and Steris, the epoxy resisted a hundred cycles. It’s also capable of withstanding exposure to gamma radiation, ethylene oxide, and other aggressive sterilants and chemicals. EP41S-5Med provides a tensile strength of 10,000psi to 12,000psi and adheres well to a variety of similar and dissimilar substrates, including metals, plastics, rubbers, ceramics, and composites. With a glass transition temperature of 140°C to 145°C, it’s serviceable from -62°C to +232°C. EP41S-5Med features reliable electrical insulation characteristics with a dielectric constant of 3.5 at 60Hz and a volume resistivity greater than 1,014 ohm-cm.

Gundrilling machines
The UNE6 series of machines accurately, productively, and reliably gundrill medical components. Capable of producing holes in diameters from 0.8mm to 6.0mm (0.03" to 0.24") with depth-to-diameter ratios exceeding 100:1. The series features 24,000rpm integral motor spindles, 28,000rpm total drilling speed with counter-rotation, and 3,000psi (207 bar) flow-based coolant system.
Within the series, the UNE6-750-CR single spindle gundrilling machine is geared toward precision instrumentation work, and has a counter-rotating workpiece headstock to achieve extremely high concentricity with a wide range of depth-to-diameter ratios.
The UNE6-2i-750-CR is for complex, small-diameter medical instrument gundrilling. Sequential drilling operations common in surgical instruments can be completed on one machine. Its fully independent dual spindle operation is accessible from a single side of the machine, ideal one-piece flow possible when manually loaded.
The UNE6-2i-750-CR with robotics enables gundrilling difficult, extremely precise surgical instruments. Process reliability of the machine allows for fully automated production, enabling lights-out gundrilling of complex components.
