Swiss-Type Lathe
and Bar Machines

The Cincom M432VIII Swiss-type lathe and Miyano BNA-42MSY multi-tasking bar machine will be exhibited along with the Cincom and Miyano turning machines and accessories that deliver manufacturing solutions in 2mm to 64mm bar applications. The M432VIII incorporates a third Y-axis on the back tool post and a B-axis with rotary tools on the gang toolpost. The B-axis locates on the slant axis in reference to the Y-axis direction. When drilling angular holes on a conventional machine, an adjustable angle spindle is required. However, with this machine, a B-axis incorporating rotary tools can be used to change the angle, continuously, allowing machining of multiple angular holes in a single set up. The BNA-42MSY features two spindles, Y-axis-equipped turret, and an X2 axis on the back spindle.

Automatic Surface Grinder
The FSG-2040ADIII Series includes a PLC controller that provides a grind cycle with rough grinding, fine grinding, spark-out passes, and an automatic over-wheel dresser with compensation, which can be added to automate the grind process. After the cycle is finished, the table will park either left or right of the saddle and at the front to facilitate unloading and loading. The wheel head can also be set to return to the start position or to park at a reference point. Once the cycle is started, the wheel head will move rapidly to the start point and repeat the grind cycle. If material is required to be removed from both sides, flip over can be selected so that the wheel head position is at the finish grind height, which will start grinding immediately without touching off. The automatic grind feature consists of rough and fine grinding cycles, switching from rough grinding down-feed increments to fine grinding down-feed increments at preset points during the cycle. This crossfeed also switches from a rough to fine cross-feed increment, which results in a finer surface finish and finer accuracy.

Automatic Lathe
The TRAUB TNL18 sliding/fixed headstock automatic lathe is available with seven linear axes and an extra B-axis. With the additional B-axis in the upper tool carrier, which can pivot 100°, complex parts and complicated contour elements that also require additional operations such as milling, drilling, lateral drilling, or threading may be machined at any angular position. In addition, the eight-position turret with the double-driven toolholder per position capability provides additional flexibility. Setting up angle-adjustable toolholders is no longer necessary, reducing setup time. The omission of angle-adjustable toolholders creates more stable machining conditions in the machine system. Due to additional operations in any angle positions, workpieces can be produced more flexibly and efficiently in a single setup.

PKM Machining Center
ICON Technologies’ Tripod 700S Powerflex is a modular 6-axis Parallel Kinematics Machining (PKM) Center. PKM technology means that the motions in X, Y, and Z are performed by three parallel axes that provides good stiffness and accuracy with a maintained flexibility and cutting area. It combines the flexibility and envelope of a robot but with the accuracy and stiffness of traditional machine tools. The Tripod Powerflex does not notice any differences between a perpendicular hole or surface compared to a compound angle, making it suitable for complex machining. The work envelope is 800mm x 800mm x 400mm.
