CoroCut XS inserts are designed to produce precision- turned components with diameters as small as 1.0mm.
The new tool from Sandvik provides the accuracy and reliability needed by small part manufacturers specializing in small medical components.
According to Sandvik, the XS inserts are precision ground to contain extremely sharp edges, ensuring the tightest possible tolerances in external machining operations, such as grooving, threading, parting and turning. The CoroCut XS has a grooving width of only 0.5mm and a parting width of just 0.7mm.
The CoroCut XS provides a flexible solution, with all inserts, for all operations, being compatible with the same toolholder. The design also allows the insert screw to be reached from either side of the toolholder, offering easy access when indexing the insert.
Also designed with small part machining in mind, Sandvik Coromant's CoroTurn XS is well suited for watch, connector and medical applications. This tool offers solutions for internal turning, grooving and threading, bringing the performance of CoroTurn down to bores as small as 1.0mm.
The CoroTurn XS line features four sizes, CXS-04, -05, -06 and -07, each including inserts for a range of bore diameters, and are available in multiple lengths to suit different applications.
These inserts fit into boring bars designed with internal cutting fluid supply, directed at the cutting edge via two nozzles that ensure chip evacuation and sufficient cooling. These inserts range from 10mm to 25mm diameter and fit into boring bars from 0.500 in. to 1.000 in. outer diameter.
