Mori Seiki U.S.A. Inc. celebrated its 25th anniversary during Innovation Days 2008, held at the company's Chicago Technical Center this past May. Presentations focused on a wide variety of topics – including the latest machine innovations, new technologies and workforce development.
Attendees were able to visit the Mori Seiki University (MSU) – founded in 2007. Since then, MSU has provided more than 10,000 hours of training to employees, distributors and customers. Enrollment in classes is open to all customers – either attending at MSU's state-of-the-art facility, or via Education On Demand.
Visitors during Innovation Days learned about Mori Seiki's Machining Technology Laboratory (MTL ), which concentrates on developing innovative technologies that impact all aspects of machining processes, for example Mori's Hydrogage, Spinning Tool and Adaptive Balancer.
Throughout the event, more than 20 CNC machines were demonstrated, including the NMV5000 DCG , the NZ2000 T3Y3 (see this month's Product of the Month on page 24), the NT Series of integrated mill-turn centers, the DuraTurn Series of lathes and the DuraVertical Series of vertical machining centers.
Finally, the expansion of the U.S. headquarters to a northwest suburb of Chicago was discussed, highlighting how it will put the national headquarters, the Chicago Technical Center, the Machining Technology Laboratory, and Mori Seiki University all in one location. Additional details on the new headquarters will be released when ground is broken for the new facility.
