The Student Summit at IMTS -- The International Manufacturing Technology Show -- is being renamed to indicate participation by its new manager, the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS). Importantly, the Summit advances career opportunities in manufacturing technology for young people as they prepare for entry into the workforce.
Summit at IMTS, the newly formed co-marketing partnership includes both NIMS and The Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT). At IMTS 2004, more than 6,000 educators and students from high schools, vocational and technical schools, apprenticeship training, and institutions of higher learning from across the U.S. attended the Student Summit.
Locating the Summit at IMTS is a major factor in encouraging going into manufacturing technology as a career. "IMTS showcases the latest technology we strive to reach young people with to recruit and maintain a globally competitive workforce," points out NIMS executive director, Stephen C. Mandes. "We're excited about the partnership. It's a prime opportunity to integrate education into a trade show that will ultimately help us train the next generation of workers."
