Hypoid gearshaft is fitted with a rightangle design for working precision

The HG+ is a low-backlash hypoid gearhead with a hollow-shaft, rightangle design. Its features include high torque and speed, gear ratios in a single stage, low noise combined with high efficiency, and freedom from wear.

The HG+ is a low-backlash hypoid gearhead with a hollow-shaft, rightangle design. Its features include high torque and speed, gear ratios in a single stage, low noise combined with high efficiency, and freedom from wear. The HG+ consequently offers a constant torsional backlash as well as perfect reversibility with all ratios.

The hypoid technology drives the new gearhead to gear ratios of 3:1 to 10:1 in a single stage. Despite the high power density of the HG+, the new gearhead produces only a third of the noise of conventional rightangle gearheads. The HG+ is ideally suited to servo applications, from high-speed S1 to highly dynamic S5 operation. Alpha says that the HG+ is applicable to packaging machines (including carton erectors and tray packers, flow wrapping equipment and bag forming, filling and sealing machines), loading/unloading robots, palletisers, and the 7th and 8th axes of industrial robots.

The HG+ is available in five sizes with acceleration torques up to 640 Nm. Its torsional backlash is less than 4 arc-minutes (with a deflecting torque equivalent to 2\% of the acceleration torque).

The maximum speed is 6000 rpm; this high speed in combination with a high torque facilitates a huge productivity increase in high-speed packaging machines, loading/unloading robots, and numerous other applications. The nominal speed exceeds 3000 rpm, depending on the output torque.
