High-performance horizontal machining in an unattended manufacturing configuration

Designed as a generalpurpose machining center, the Horizontal Center Nexus 6000 from Mazak with a Fanuc Robotics robot features a highspeed, 50-taper, 50hp, 10,000 rpm spindle with 388 ft-lbs torque as standard equipment.

The 500 mm pallet is the foundation for a generous work size of 39.3-in. high and 35.4-in. in diameter. According to Mazak, at 111-in. wide, the HCN 6000 is space-efficient, with the lowest machine width in its class.

Rapid-traverse rates in X,Y, and Z are 2,362 ipm, and acceleration is 0.7G. A 43-tool magazine with automatic tool changer is standard, as is the 2-pallet changer, driven by a roller-gear cam with no hydraulics or sensors. The pallet will index 90° in 1.9 sec. and change pallets in 9.0 sec.

Sealed grease lubrication in all axes instead of way lube reduces oil consumption and extends coolant life due to no tramp oils in the system.
