FROM CONCEPT TO REALITY

Producing commercial-ready products sometimes requires a contract manufacturer that exceeds client expectations.

As a trusted partner to emerging start-up companies and OEMs, Inteprod delivers product design and development, contract manufacturing and assembly services with a specialized focus on the medical device, medical diagnostic, food safety and pathogen detection industries. Specializing in just medical and food safety is what owners Rick and Suzanne Smethers feel sets them apart from other contract manufacturing companies. Additionally, as a young company focused solely on these industries, and despite the turbulent economic times the country has been in, Inteprod continues to grow. In 2009 alone, more than 16 new employees have been hired, including nine high-level engineers, two executives, and five production personnel and administrative support staff.

DEVELOPING

Going from concept to reality is really what full-service contract manufacturing is all about. Inteprod works with customers at any and every stage of their project. Whether working on a large project or a small project, Inteprod's goal is to always exceed the client's expectations. Rick Smethers, president of Inteprod, states, "As a quality developer and manufacturer of medical and food safety devices and diagnostic equipment, Inteprod does not just design, we produce commercial- ready products." Inteprod's ISO certification and FDA registration validate their knowledge of, and strict adherence to, quality and regulatory standards. It also demonstrates their commitment to providing the highest quality services, complete customer satisfaction, continual improvement and prevention of nonconformity.

Inteprod's industry experience and capabilities encompass concept development, feasibility, 510k submission assistance, full documentation, supply chain management, inventory control and more. Additionally, Lori Pegon, marketing and communications spokesperson, Inteprod, explains, "All of the documentation a client needs is done right here, and that documentation and product belong to the client.

Inteprod's specialized expertise and their commitment to integrity, quality and the unsurpassed success of their clients differentiates them from other contract manufacturers." Pegon goes on to state that Inteprod values their clients and seeks to build long-term partnerships.

"We know that medical companies are looking for contract manufacturers that have the experience and capabilities to provide innovative concepts, from start through commercialization, with strict adherence to quality and regulatory standards and supply chain controls. We are confident in our abilities and our commitment to quality," Pegon says.

"Inteprod was founded on integrity, first and foremost, and we know our clients recognize and value our commitment to excellence, quality and their success. If we say we will have something to them at a specific time, we do. If we make a mistake, we fix it. We do not make excuses."

QUALITY DELIVERED

The staff at Inteprod is fluent in industrial, mechanical, chemical, electrical and software design, as well as systems engineering. Boasting a range of development tools such as Solid Works, Pro Engineering, Algor, Orcad and Mold Flow, along with a Dimension FDM rapid prototyping system, Inteprod utilizes the latest technologies to efficiently work with clients.

Cellular work centers, detailed work instructions, lean methodologies and adherence to industry regulatory requirements are all integral parts to Inteprod's services. Inteprod's quality management system, supply chain management procedures, purchasing and planning, and inventory control are set up to address all client concerns.

Ensuring that finished medical devices produced at Inteprod are safe and effective, completely documented and fully traceable is Inteprod's top priority. Inteprod compiles a complete design history file documenting all design phases for each medical device.

The Device Master Record (DMR) stays with the product and identifies all procedures, drawings, tests, inspections and fixtures required for repeated manufacturing.

REPEAT BUSINESS

Thriving in the contract manufacturing business is not always easy, and Inteprod could not grow if they did not provide high quality, high value services and completely satisfy their clients. Inteprod relies on repeat business, and satisfied and successful customers are more likely to create long-term partnerships. Large OEMs are continually working on new products and technologies and updating existing products. Quite often, small, emerging companies will complete a project, sell that technology to another company, and then begin with a new idea or a new project, and they come back to Inteprod for their services.

Protetction of intellectual property (IP) and/or proprietary technology is another area that is as important to Inteprod as it is to the customer. Unwilling to build their name on their clients' reputations, Inteprod has found the best way to grow is to continually prove the value of an experienced, innovative team committed to high quality and the success and satisfaction of our clients. "Everything we do is for our clients and the end result is our client's satisfaction and their repeat business," Pegon explains.

All told, Inteprod's team has vast experience and knowledge in the development and manufacturing of medical products, and it is obvious that the complete solutions they offer and deliver with integrity are paying off in dividends.
