Small cable modules, mini-LED illumination

OmniVision Technologies’ OVMed OCHSA and OCHTA cable modules are for single-use endoscopes and catheters. The fully integrated medical-grade imaging subsystems combine a small diameter camera module with upgraded OVMed cables and mini-LED illumination for a complete, medically tested assembly.

OVMed OCHSA with digital MIPI output – OCHSA cable module offers 800 x 800 pixel resolution with high-speed MIPI digital interface for larger outer diameter endoscopes. The cable module is designed to handle both short and long distances and can be customized.

OVMed OCHTA with analog output

– The OCHTA cable module integrates OmniVision’s OH0TA image sensor and provides wafer-level optics in a single, compact assembly.

New Scale Technologies adds quality manager, pursues ISO 13485:2016

Steve Jackson has been promoted to quality manager at New Scale Technologies at the company’s design and manufacturing facility near Rochester, New York. In this role, Jackson will lead the effort to obtain ISO 9001:2015 quality certification for the company, along with ISO 13485:2016 certification for medical devices and ISO 17025:2017 certification for testing and calibration laboratories.

“With this promotion we are creating a dedicated Quality department in our company, demonstrating our commitment to continuous improvement and conformance to international quality standards,” says David Henderson, CEO of New Scale. “This change will elevate our team’s performance and meet the requirements of our customers, especially our medical customers.”

New Scale creates miniature motion systems that are embedded in medical instruments, smartphone cameras, extended reality devices, neural recording measurements, and automated metrology tools. These micro mechatronic systems integrate precision mechanisms, microelectronics, and software.

Partnership for automated robotic solutions

ModuleWorks and Energid already supply computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) developers with solutions for subtractive and additive robotic manufacturing and are now extending and intensifying this cooperation to accelerate the development of automated, customized workflows for robotic manufacturing.

The cooperation combines the functionality of the Energid Actin software for complex kinematic scenarios with the latest ModuleWorks toolpath calculation algorithms, 3D simulation, and NC-code post-processing software. The combined software generates high-performance, collision-free toolpaths with minimal operator intervention for highly automated and efficient manufacturing.

Automatic collision avoidance and path planning for more than six axes is built into the ModuleWorks application programming interfaces (APIs) for simplified integration and fast development of complex robot-assisted additive, welding, and dispensing solutions with automatic NC-code posting.
