The Grindline laser measuring system is for on-line gaging of parts produced by centerless grinding machines that require single or multi-diameter checks. Installed at the output of the grinders, clean parts are passed through a laser beam that registers hundreds of measurements along the axis of the component. Signals from the gage are processed by the software, which can extract data that pertains only to ground features, ignoring grooves, threads, or other shape irregularities. Information is then compared to the pre-set nominal value, and if the process drifts out of the pre-set limits, the Grindline software automatically adjusts the grinder to compensate for wheel wear and to keep within tolerance limits.

Waterjet versatility
The ProtoMAX’s compact footprint and versatility make the abrasive waterjet applicable for prototyping, educational use, or as a complement to a larger machine shop. The pump and cutting table are on casters for easy relocation. Work material is submerged in water, and with the clamshell cover, ProtoMAX runs quietly at about 76dB.
Delivering 30,000psi cutting power with a 5hp pump, ProtoMAX cuts with no heat-affected zone and no change to material properties. The waterjet plugs into a 240VAC outlet and does not need hardwiring.
