Test strip manufacturing

Manufacture test strips from raw material with AZCO’s multi-station reel-to-reel laminator system with cut-to-length knife assembly. Rolls of material are laminated onto a base material, and then strips are cut to a set length. Included is an unwind and rewind system, lamination station, print area, and cut-to-length module.

Another product option for making test strips is a membrane coating and drying station. One or multiple rolls of material are unwound, travel through an adjustable marking system, and then serpentine through a solution bath. The material is then dried by a forced hot air system and rewound onto a motorized rewind.

Barcode scanner input automatically loads, runs test sequences

Vitrek’s advanced QT Enterprise PC-based Electrical Safety Software package includes a handheld barcode scanning feature that creates and modifies an unlimited number of electrical safety testing procedures for use with the V7x and 95x series of high-performance electrical safety (hipot) testers and 964i high voltage switching systems.

Barcode scanning of the device-under-test (DUT’s) label or routing paperwork provides simple and accurate installation of the correct, ready-to-run test sequence. After scanning the DUT’s model and serial number, QT Enterprise automatically loads, runs the tests, and saves and records results. By using the filtering functions, individual tests can be recalled for auditing purposes or for detailed analysis on testing or product performance.

When performing various electrical safety tests – including AC and/or DC voltage withstand, insulation resistance, ground bond testing – each test sequence can have as many as 999 steps.

Various vision systems, optical comparators, force measurement systems, and special gaging solutions are available from The L.S. Starrett Co.

The Starrett AVR CNC Automatic Vision System is for repetitive measurements and automatic comparison to CAD files and is available with dedicated or interchangeable telecentric or zoom optics for micron-level resolution and accurate field-of-view (FOV) measurements.

Starrett HDV Horizontal Digital Video Comparators feature MetLogix M3 touch screen software with the M3 DXF/FOV option pack. With this software, the HDV can import DXF CAD files over a network and make automatic 2D go/no-go comparisons to an engineering design by using video edge detection.

The Starrett HB400 Benchtop Optical Comparator with X-axis travel of 16” (400mm) and available with optical edge detection, provides performance levels previously only available with floor standing machines.

Starrett DFC Digital Handheld Force Gages are for force measurement via a handheld force gage. The DFC may be used as an advanced digital force gage and controller with Starrett FMM Force Testers and can serve as a universal interface where the user tests and configures load limits, distance limits, break limits, crosshead travel direction, crosshead speed, and more.

Hybrid extrusion tooling

Essential benefits of the 800 Series Hybrid that result in improved concentricity include eliminating weld lines in materials through overlapping technology for a more consistent finished product; reduced sensitivity to changes in viscosity, line speed; myriad material, multi-layer application possibilities; works in all tubing, jacketing applications with a range of materials; low residence time; compact design; and a low tolerance stack-up error factor.

The 800 Series Hybrid extrusion tool greatly reduces stagnation, because overlapping layers are more inherently balanced than single layers and because each semi-deflector is tuned to flush. Conventional deflectors must simultaneously achieve a balance between flushing, balancing, and eliminating the weld line. There’s less difference between the slowest moving material and the fastest moving material in the deflector channels, making the viscosity more consistent in the deflector.

Automated ultrasonic cleaning system

The Torrent M Series automated ultrasonic aqueous cleaning system is a single chamber, front loading rotary basket style machine featuring 640W of single or multi-frequency ultrasonics for vacuum and non-vacuum immersion wash or rinse, basket rotation with user selected speed, direction, and short cyclic modes; compressed air blow-off; spray rinsing; and hot air dry or vacuum dry with hot air assist.

Torrent M Series machines are self-contained, skid mounted, and designed for single-pass or multiple-pass chemistries using onboard reservoirs while reducing water consumption through user-defined machine operation parameters.

Software updated with deep learning

Stream software version 2.5 adds Olympus’ TruAI deep-learning technology, enabling users to train neural networks to automatically segment and classify objects in microscope images for various material inspections. A trained network can be applied to future analyses for a similar application to maximize efficiency.

Olympus’ TruAI technology offers more accurate segmentation based on deep learning for a highly reproducible and robust analysis. With the TruAI solution, an easy-to-use interface allows users to efficiently label images and run training in batches. Networks can be configured with many input channels, trained to identify up to 16 classes. There are also options to review and edit training details.

The software update also gives users access to Olympus’ workflow customization services.
