Partnership to scale and accelerate AM
Additive manufacturing (AM) solutions provider 3D Systems has entered a strategic partnership with Precision Resource, producer of critical components for the automotive, heavy duty, aerospace, and medical device industries. The collaboration will focus on 3D Systems’ Direct Metal Printing (DMP) platform and includes Precision Resource’s purchase of two DMP Flex Dual 3D printers. This will expand Precision Resource’s portfolio of precision metal forming processes, which also includes 5-axis machining centers and advanced inspection systems.
The DMP Flex 350 platform is designed for everything from application development to serial production. It includes quick swap build modules and fast powder recycling as well as a central server that manages print jobs, materials, settings, and maintenance for 24/7 operation. The platform reduces argon gas consumption and delivers <25ppm oxygen purity, resulting in high chemical purity and surface finish. 3DXpert software supports every step of the AM workflow from design to post-processing.
“We’re excited to partner with 3D Systems, a company sharing our dedication to excellence and innovation,” says Chris Gratton, general manager, Precision Resource. “This partnership allows us to leverage the latest advancements in metal additive manufacturing, further positioning Precision Resource at the forefront of technological progress. This expansion into metal additive printing underscores Precision Resource’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional value to our clients, customers, partners, and stakeholders. As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we remain dedicated to our mission of excellence and continuous improvement.”
The partnership is expected to enable a faster path to market for applications in high-criticality industries.

Serial production capabilities for industrial AM users
Dyndrite, provider of the GPU-accelerated computation engine used to create digital manufacturing hardware and software, announced support for HP’s Multi-jet Fusion (MJF) and Metal Jet 3D printers. The 3D print preparation software Dyndrite for MJF is built upon Dyndrite’s Accelerated Computation Engine (ACE) and offers HP direct and contract manufacturers freedom and control over the MJF manufacturing process. It includes new serial production features such as automated build preparation from multi-gigabyte mesh files or native CAD and fully controllable 2D and 3D advanced labeling.
“From the outset Dyndrite’s goal has been to usher in a new era of serial production in AM,” says Stephen Anderson, strategic relations, Dyndrite. “Our direct support for HP Multi Jet Fusion and Metal Jet now avails the most production-oriented users in AM with software capable of accelerating their production capabilities and throughput. We look forward to working with Multi Jet and Metal Jet users to solve their toughest serial production challenges.”
With Dyndrite for MJF, users can work with large multi-gigabyte files, leverage native CAD files and their associated metadata to enable automation, finely tune advanced 2D and 3D nesting, part serialization, and QR code labels, and script automated build prep. Dyndrite’s native Python APIs enable data integration with a wide range of databases and third-party apps, including AMFG, to improve part ordering, job submission, and reporting. Users also benefit from native machine connectivity and full HP file plug-in support.
