Absolute Machine Tools, Inc. offers the heavy duty A-56+APC mill/tap center from Argo Seiki, a CNC milling and tapping center. Its compact size consumes little floor space while its speed, 1,890 IPM rapid traverses in all axes, shortens cycle times. A heavy cast iron machine frame ensures rigidity and long life.
This machine has many performance features, such as a 24 tool arm type synchronous motion ATC system reduces tool to tool change time to only 1.25 seconds. The ATC system is controlled via an inverter drive and is fully adjustable.
The A-56+APC's low inertia, 10 HP spindle motor is directly coupled to the spindle, ensuring fast acceleration from 0 –12,000 RPM and fast deceleration back to zero. Such speeds not only shorten cycle times, but also permit rigid tap speeds of up to 6,000 RPM. The direct drive spindle also improves surface finishes and provides better performance versus belt drive machines.
The APC unit, located in front of the machine, provides easy access and reduces idle times. The APC is a built-in rotary type pallet changer mounted in front of the machine, exchanging pallets in 5 seconds. The rotary pallet uses an inverter drive to rotate the pallet and a hydraulic clamping mechanism to clamp it in place for consistent repeatability. The inverter drive is fully adjustable for fast pallet changes with light or heavy loads. As an option, the APC unit is available with both air and hydraulic ports for easy fixture interface.
The standard Fanuc OiM-C control handles various production machining applications and comes with options including Manual Guide Oi conversational programming. An optional Fanuc 18i-MB control is available with a full complement of high-speed 3-D machining options for mold detail and electrode machining.
