AIMS Metrology, an OEM for coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), acquired Englewood, Ohio-based CMI Technologies. The purchase is one of several investments AIMS has made this year to better serve its customers. Headquartered in Miamisburg, Ohio, the company completed a second expansion in April 2016, building out assembly areas and climate-controlled laboratories. In July, the company was awarded a $100,000 grant to develop new vision and image recognition technology for its CMMs.
In addition to the CMMs AIMS designs and builds, it will use its expanded capabilities to develop and produce air and electronic gages. “If a customer needs greater throughput or higher accuracy than a CMM can deliver, these gages will provide that,” says AIMS President Dave Delph.
The new gages will be engineered to compliment the OEM’s CMMs and function as part of a work cell in various applications.
In 2015 AIMS launched its line of Revolution LM and HB series CMMs designed to introduce Renishaw 5-axis measurement technology to the shop floor and laboratory. AIMS’ Revolution line of CMMs are exclusively supported by Renishaw technology through probe heads, touch probes, scanning probes, incremental encoder scale systems, change racks, styli, controls, and Modus software. www.aimsmetrology.com
