Advanced technologies & IMTS

“Once again, come September, the world’s manufacturing community will be focusing on Chicago, ogling the latest in metalworking technology. The International Manufacturing Technology Show will have it all. Machine tools will be delivering faster axis travels, quicker tool changes, more secondary processing capability, and faster pallet changers – all while delivering tighter tolerances. Tools and inserts will have new geometries and coatings allowing cleaner and faster metal removal and longer life, too. Software will be more idiot proof.

“On hand will be the ingredients to permit U.S. metalworking manufacturers to regain their competitive edge in a globally competitive economy. Even so, as adventurous as Americans appear to be, in the metalworking community they resist taking a flier on new technology.”

The above paragraphs were written in August 1992 by Stan Modic, and those words still ring true for the new, advanced technologies on display at IMTS 2022. As the 33rd edition of IMTS opens September 12, 2022, more than 2,400 exhibitors will be displaying manufacturing technology and solutions addressing everything from workforce shortages to staying ahead of the competition amid supply chain challenges. Connectivity, the digital transformation of manufacturing, automation, and additive manufacturing will be prominent like in 2018 – the last in-person IMTS show which drew nearly 130,000 registrants viewing technology across more than 1.4 million square feet of exhibit space.

Described as the show where the creators, builders, sellers, and drivers of manufacturing technology come to connect and be inspired, looking at the advancements the industry will display in 2022, this year’s show won’t be a disappointment. Organized into nine pavilions – Abrasive Machining/Sawing/Finishing; Additive Manufacturing; Controls & CAD/CAM; Fabricating & Lasers; Gear Generation; Machine Components/Cleaning/Environment; Metal Removal; Quality Assurance; Tooling & Workholding Systems – there’s something for everyone. In addition, HANNOVER MESS USA is celebrating 10 years of co-location with IMTS, exhibitors will be displaying and demonstrating technologies in areas of industrial automation systems; linear drives, gears, motors & mechanical transmission systems; industrial energy systems; digital/software, IIoT/Industry 4.0; engineered parts & solutions; surface treatment technology; compressed air and vacuum technology; and fluid power.

As manufacturing is in the midst of the fourth Industrial Revolution, advanced machining, connected technologies, software, and new skills are in demand more than ever. Throughout the 6-day show will also be 12 conferences – including The IMTS 2022 Conference and The 2022 HANNOVER MESSE USA Conference which are co-produced by GIE Media’s Manufacturing group – and attendees can choose from a wide array of topics helping move them forward with new insights about business and technology.

We look forward to seeing you in Chicago this September, and make sure to stop by our booth to say hello – #339400, South Building, Level 3.
