High Power Density on a Compact Board
Basis for this design concept of the iPOS3604 VX – a new addition to the iPOS is that the drive offers high power density (up to 360W of peak power) on a very compact board (only 21mm x 54mm of PCB space). Specifically developed to be PCB embedded, iPOS3604 VX can mount vertically or horizontally onto a motherboard. The plug-in card format of the iPOS3604 card (just 56mm x 29mm x 7mm) makes it ideal for assembly in critical-space applications. Hosting of several drives on a single motherboard is possible. The use of slot connectors will help machine builders save time while reducing cabling costs.
A complete motion control solution, iPOS3604 VX combines controller, drive, and PLC functionality into a single compact unit. The drive can control brushless DC, brushless AC (vector control), DC brushed, and step motors of up to 144W (36V, 4A) continuous power. Equipped with a CAN interface, iPOS3604 has the flexibility to operate in CANopen and TMLCAN protocols. The EtherCAT interface is available using an additional EtherCAT module. Typical feedback devices include incremental encoders, and digital and linear Hall signals, with SSI, BiSS, EnDAT encoders, and resolver interfaces available through additional extensions.

Miniature Piezoelectric Force Sensor
Design of the Type 9211BE miniature quartz force sensor with single-wire technology is for high-reliability dynamic and quasi-static mold cavity measurements of up to 3,000 bar (43,511psi), covering a range of 0 to 2,500N, in support of demanding plastics injection molding operations.
With a total diameter measuring just 6mm, the highly compact Kistler Type 9211BE operates on the piezoelectric principle, whereby the high-resolution force sensor charge signal output converts within the charge amplifier or monitoring unit into a proportional output voltage of up to 10V, which is largely dependent upon sensor cable length. Housing of piezoelectric sensing elements is within a rugged welded case with replaceable cable. The Type 9211BE further offers the benefits of Kistler’s own single-wire technology, allowing for the shortening of an individual cable to required length, with connection via the proven cut-and-grip technique.

Ultra-Miniature Surface Mount Reed Sensors
High performance noncontact reed sensors, ideal for low power applications, are available in the MK24 series of ultra-miniature surface mount reed sensors. They are ideal for countless low power applications, including portable medical and electronic devices, contact sensors, cell phones, position sensors, telecommunications, and limit switches. The MK24 series offers performance beyond all other reed sensors in its size class, achieving a minimum life expectancy of 50 million operations at 5V, 5mA, 100Hz, while measuring only 5mm x 1.8mm x 2.2mm.
The MK24 is constructed of a rugged, over-molded package containing the hermetically sealed reed switch. Requiring no external power to operate, the MK24 especially suites applications with low power and space limitations. The MK24 is available in both normally open and normally closed versions, in five contact sensitivity ranges and three surface mount lead designs – flat, straight cut axial lead for PCB mounting; flat, bent SMD gull-wing lead; and J-lead. The sensors are supplied taped, reeled, and are suitable for use on pick-and-place component placement systems.
