Tornos recently announced that after being at the helm for the past 12 years, Thomas F. Dierks is retiring as president of Tornos Technologies U.S. The company named Scott Kowalski to replace Dierks as president. Kowalski was previously employed by Agie Charmilles EDM Group, where he held the position of vice president of Sales for the past five years. In all, Kowalski has 20 years of experience in the metalworking industry. In addition, Tornos S.A. has entered into a strategic alliance with Hydromat Inc. of St. Louis, Mo. Hydromat will handle all sales and service in North America for the Tornos line of multispindle lathes. Raymond Stauffer, CEO of Tornos S.A., explains, "Because of the recent and anticipated success of our new DECO single-spindle machines, we felt it necessary to allow Tornos U.S. to solely focus on developing and supporting our single-spindle customer base. Hydromat, with its wealth of experience in multispindle applications, will be an excellent representative for Tornos multispindle technology."
